if your sure everything in the steering is tight, and it only does these things under acceleration,it will most likey be a front CV shaft,or a very bad wheel bearing, but you should hear a wheel bearing it will have a roaring sound

Shakes acceleration

Either a bent rim, tire is out of balanced and tire is bad. Rotate the tires and see if it goes from the wheel to the seat. If you can feel it in the seat then it's a bad tire.

Shakes when driving

One of the tires may have a slipped belt or be extremely out of balance. I would reccomend not driving it until you have it inspected.

Why does my 99 mercury cougar shake when i come to a complete stop and accelerate over 55mph.

tires could need balanced. However, my past experience says its because your rotors are warped. They need to be machined smooth again. Doing this requires new brake pads as well. Should just be the front causing the problem

97 cabrio shakes

Sounds like a tire is very badly balanced or a bubble on the tire wall.(front)

At 40 mph the car starts to shake. It last to 5o

I have this same car with exactly the same problem. Begins shaking at 40mph and stops shaking as soon as you let off the gas, but then begins again as soon as you press on the gas and smooths out as you get over 50. And the shaking is not felt through the steering wheel. Solution: Replace the transmission mounts. There are two of them, one on each side mounted on the frame right next to the shock strut. There is also a front and rear engine mount, but I replaced the two as described and shaking is gone.

Cabrio driving very badly

Something simple to check is the wheel balance on all the wheels. I would also check the front brakes on the car. Warped routers could cause what you are describing. Another thing to check would be the tires because the belts in the tires could be breaking loose internally

Good luck.
