Car won't start

I just bought an 84 crown vic LTD,i ran it back on a dead battery,thinking the altinator would charge it but it didn't.so i took the battery off my 93 crown vic. an put it on the 84 an it started right away.Then i took the battery post off so i could put the dead back on till i get home.but the car killed.so i went to wal-mart an bought a new one,but it never started again even with the new battery,,,,,,,So can u PLEASE help me???????/

Buy a cheap volt meter check voltage on both sides of the starter seleniod on the fenderwell if you have 12 volts on both sides while cranking test voltage at starter if you have 12 volts at starter with fully charged battery and it doesnt start you will need a starter it also sounds like you might need an alternator once you can get it started

Battery might have died cause the altinator is not charging 14+V Please charge the battery, donot boost the dead battery. After charging the battery check the altinator output.

check the ground cable. the ground straps to the engine and body alos. Make sure the cables are clean and have no corrosion anyplace.

How do i take out my alternator in 1989 crown vick ok i just found out my alternator is killn my battery so i would like to know how can i take the old one out and replace it with a new one


disconnect battery disconnect connector to altinator disconnect battery connection on altinator loosen serpenten belt from altinator loosen bolts and remove old altinator install new altinator and work back to start of unistalling

I would visually check for spark at the plugs, to make sure spark is getting to the plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure and fuel injector pulse.
How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes?

have your battery check first.ive never seen a battery that will last for 5 years.shelf life starts as soon as the acid is added to the battery.

Dead cell in Battery? Take positive cable off battery while running and then it should stay running that mean the alternator is working. So you want to check battery out for dead cell in battery if that is the case it will not take a charge.
