If you go to AutoZone, they can pull up a part number for the shift lever of each year and see if they match. You could even call them to do this over the phone. If it's not a match, they may be able to tell what the difference is with photos on the computer and tell you if it will work. Good Luck.

I have a 93 isuzu pick up 5 speed 2.3 carb and went to put it in 1 st gear it felt weird so I let out clutch and nothing and no 2 so I put it in 3 and I have 3 4 5 and reverse there was no noise

what means wired?
NOise what noise?
It would in fact grind gears (will)
IF THE GEAR LEVER IS NOT REALLY SHIFTING FULLY IN
TO GEAR, AND you let clutch out too soon, it sure
will grid,, fix the shifter, below.

2wd or 4wd, not stated, and changes labor costs.
and all steps. below.

diagnosis......
when you shift to 1st
the transmission is not in first
grab the shifter and shift to 1st ,its loose right, bingo
that is bad parts on bottom of the shifter end.
fixed many.
some have plastic parts here, to stop noise
and excess vibration. they all fail fast.
we replace these
we can also shift to 1st with no shift lever
the acid test, this fails or not. easy no>?
blow more clutches racing then most folks.
do my own work,
mau-5 my guess bingo
or
msg-5 box?

see photos.
? i can shift from here, photo1
or from extension housing
a- if this is loose shifting will fail.
b- some have plastic tip here, that shatters.
c: on end of extension housing, seen many a time the tip
here near worn badly, to a sliver. and sloppy as heck now, causing shifts to fail.
if the lever feels slooppy ,when not in the center of the H pattern, that be a big problem.!!!!

2005 Impala gear shift button popped out. I have to put it back in each time I need to shift to D, R, etc. How can I remedy this problem without replacing the whole gearshift?

Re-attaching the knob to the gearshift is the key...Look for a hole on the lower section of the knob...if you cannot see it...remove the bottom chrome piece from the knob, (pry apart carefully not to scratch the chrome housing...you should see the small hole normally includes a small allen insert screw or Phillips screw...must be screwed in to the gear shift shaft to hold in place...if you cannot compare...visit a local salvage yard to experiment..."Pic A Part" is a national self help salvage yard. Hope this helps. If the button does not stay in the gear shift knob...you can replace the knob (with button) only...remove the knob as described above. Hope this helps.

88 ford f150 gear shift lock

A common cause when the gear is on the steering column is a worn out pin. That pin holds the lever to the shift assembly. Try removing the gear shift lever and examine it.
  • If the bushing between the pin and the shift is worn out, replace it.
  • Examine the tip of the the gearshift and replace the shift if it's worn out.
Hope I've helped. If not please feel free to contact me with more details.

Gear shift is loose and wobbles

Under the car on the on the gear shift lever is a spring this spring is ether missing or broken. Get under the car look in between the drivers seat area and the shift mechanism, maybe part of the spring is still hanging there. If not go to a local auto salvage yard and try to see where they fit.

Replace auto shift lever

You need to remove the shift handle first...key must be on...no need to start...pull shift lever down to low gear...look on the back side of the knob...you should see a u-shaped clip head...pry gently under the u-shape with a scredriver to begin removal...then use needle nose pliers to completely pull the clip out...after this is removed...you will be able to kift the shifter knob off...Don't know if you mean replace shift knob...(known for breaking) or actual metal shift lever...if you need the shifter arm, your best find would be at your local salvage yard...some will remove for you...some will let you find your model and remove yourself...To re-install put the shift knob back on the shift lever...to lock in place then re-insert the u-clip to lock in place...Many good mechanics are not familiar with removing these shift knobs...Hope this helps.

I have a 96 f 150, automic & shift lever very loose in all gears. very hard to find drive, neutral, reverse.

It sounds like a bad shift collar on the column or the shift tube inside the column. Somtimes the best cure is to pick up a used steering column at a salvage yard. The last one I bought cost about
$65.00. Hope this helps.

My hi and low beam headlights were broken in a small damage accident-1991 olds delta 88 royale-my local supply store tells me a replacement is not available? can any advise thank you bill

hi bill, I think the problem might be the glass cover for the headlights. I checked, and the 87-91 olds delta 88 have a replacement bulb, not a sealed beam headlight. I assume the glass cover (lens) of the headlights were broken due to the minor accident. The headlight lens, or glass, might be found in an auto salvage yard. You might find new ones at a dealership, but they would be very hard to find for a 91, as they don't make them anymore, due to the cars age (no demand to make manufacturing them worthwhile). So check the junk yard, it's your best bet. Good luck, Curt

87 ranger new motor bad truck

try to find an 1988======>93 ranger. the closer to 88 the better. the wiring harness is similar in 90-93, but you will have to adapt some parts on the newer.
