What is a "Roll Stop"?

I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse and I was told I need a ''Roll Stop'' replaced at the dealership. What is a ''Roll Stop'' and how does it work? I try to do a google search and I'm not finding much information, does this part have another name?

Thank you so much. When I took the car to the local shop and mention the "Roll Stop" they gave me a strange look like I was from Mars. I told then the dealership said I needed the "Front Mount" and "Roll Stop" replaced. Our part numbers match up #272203.

I was curious what a roll stop was and what it does.

The only "motor mount" that goes bad is really called the roll stop. It is located on the support bar, under the car in the middle of the engine/transmission. The roll stop is on the front, top side of the support.

You can remove it without the need to jack anything up, it does not hold any weight, it keeps the motor and transmission from flexing too much when you accelerate or engine brake. With a bad roll stop there will be more pressure on the exhaust system and a broken flex pipe on the front of the exhaust system will be the result. The flex pipes can cost up to $600 on some vehicles so replacing the roll stop is a good idea if you have too much motor twist or a knock under the vehicle from the exhaust hitting the floor when accelerating.

Good luck.

What a bad experience you had there.

Look or search for Diamond ATF SP3. Beware Diamond is a brand name and it is the recommended product for your car.

Best regards and remember to rate this solution.

Need stereo code for a 2001 mitsubishi eclipse

Write down the VIN and go into a dealership. If you can prove you're the owner (regi. papers, etc), they'll give it to you. If you're on file with any dealership (you've had your Eclipse in there previously), they can give you the code too. If you've had something at a local repair facility done that required the battery to be removed, they should have used a memory saver device/keep-alive device to prevent the radio locking you out. In this case, they kind of owe it to you to call the dealer and get the code (dealerships and local shops usually have a decent relationship with each other, believe it or not).
