Question about 1999 Hyundai Accent
98 Accent drives OK for varying amounts of time, then coasts to a halt. Engine turns fine but it will not start. No smell of excess gas. After about 15 minutes it starts again and drives OK, but will stall again at more frequent intervals, just 5 minutes or so. I have been getting the check engine error code P0446 and have been checking and replacing various emission components, but this problem is getting worse.
I need this car for both of my jobs and would appreciate any help I can get.
When it dies..check for spark. You could have a component in the ignition system failing when the car gets warm.
If you don't have spark then you might need a new ignition module. The distributor cap and rotor should be checked for traces of carbon. This would be evidence of a leaking cap.
If you get check engine codes then you do have some sensors going out of range or failing all together. P0446 is an evap code right?
Make sure your fuel cap isnt plugged up and all your evap lines are ok.
