So your stat is good...your system comes to pressure but you are still overheating? The radiator itself might be bad. You can try a flush and see if overheating subsides.

You could also look and see if the coolant is flowing and the stat is opening up by looking into the radiator when the car is cold and starting it and running it to temperature.

Did you pressure check the cap? Sometimes they break and you don't get adequate system pressure with the cap in place.

My 2005 Cadillac escalade is running hot change thermostat and flushed out radiator still running hot when released cap it was a lot of pressure coming from coolant

the 3 easiest things/ tests to do would be these,

1 remove cap from cooling system and run until at operating temp, check for bubbles in cooling system, if bubbles then there is a head gasket failure ( exhaust gases in the system )

2 check cooling fans to see if working, most have a high and low, for under a light or heavy load.

3 could have a water pump that has a failed impeller and not circulating coolant

How do I check and possibly replace the engine oil pressure sensor in a 2006 GMC Envoy Denali?

Oil Pressure Test Check for proper oil pressure at the sending unit passage with an externally mounted mechanical oil pressure gauge. A tachometer may also be needed, as some specifications may require running the engine at a specific RPM.
  1. While the engine is cold, locate and remove the oil pressure sending unit.
  2. Following the manufacturer's instructions, connect a mechanical oil pressure gauge and, if necessary, a tachometer to the engine.
  3. Start the engine and allow it to idle.
  4. Note and record the oil pressure reading when the engine is cold. The engine may need to run at a specified RPM, if so check the vehicle's specification.
  5. Run the engine until normal operating temperature is reached.
  6. Check the oil pressure reading again with the engine hot and record the value. Turn off the engine.
Compare the hot oil pressure reading to the specification. If the reading is low, check the cold pressure reading against the specification. If the cold pressure is well above the specification, and the hot reading was lower than the specification, the engine may have the wrong viscosity oil. Change the oil, making sure to use the proper grade and quantity, and then repeat the test.
Low oil pressure readings could be attributed to internal component wear, pump related problems, a low oil level, or oil viscosity that is too low. High oil pressure readings could be caused by an overfilled crankcase, too high of an oil viscosity or a faulty pressure relief valve.

My oil is black and smells like gas. i want to change my oil because it scares me but i dont know what type of oil to use for my truck.it is a 1987 xlt ford ranger truck with a 2.9 l.engine from a 1988...

a lot of stuff to fix here
oil: with the truck running hot, I would use a heavy oil, like 10-40
trans: where is the leak? If pan, tighten bolts. seals are much harder repair
water leak: possibly a freeze plug. Maybe you should pull the tranny and fix the water leak and the trans seal at the same time (if the seal is bad)
overheating: maybe just caused by the leak. Hard to tell until the leak is fixed. Might want to check the radiator for sludge and back flush if dirty.
hard sound: probably loose flange seal at exhaust manifold. check hole exhaust pipe to locate leak. If not along pipe, unbolt the flange and put in a new gasket.
engine problems: is the engine light on? If yes, have the truck scanned for trouble code and report them back to us. Autozone does free scans.

My 1993 Pontiac Firebird is running hot in less than 5 minutes. Changed the radiator, water pump, radiator cap and hoses still running hot. It seems like too much pressure and it's not being released....

Check the coolant temperature sensor (not the sender). Check that connection is clean and good. If you have electric radiator fans do they engage when car is hot. If nor check the fuse and the relay unit connections (under the front by the left inside fender). If you suspect the relay run a positive wire from the battery positive terminal directly to the fan. If the fan runs check the voltage to the relay and the voltage from it when triggered. If the relay is OK wiggle the wires on the coolant sender.

No heat

What you will probably find is a common problem with many vehicles when the water system is refilled you get an airlock in the heater matrix it's self, this is located inside the vehicle but the rubber hoses are outside x 2 close too the back of the engine compartment, just get the temperature up and hold these two pipes to see if they get hot, if the top hose gets hot but the bottom one does not you have air in the system, Now what you need to do is release the bottom hose been very careful not to burn your hands, and allow the water too run through for a few seconds and replace, Then check to see if the bottom hose gets hot, if it does great, if not repeat process
