NO access door, your going to have to drop the gas tank. Here is a link to how to replace the fuel pump on the Jimmy's and blazer's. http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php?autocom=ibwiki&cmd=article&id=403
Good luck and keep me posted and Note: Replace the wire harness from the frame to the gas tank, it's only $15.00 but worth replacing.

I do not think so. Look above the fuel tank to make sure but I believe you will have to remove the fuel tank in order to replace the pump. Be sure and replace the fuel filter at the same time. Partially clogged fuel filters are the main cause of fuel pump failure.

98 gmc jimm 4x4 4.3l v6 replaced plugs, wires and distributor cap and rotor. Still getting P0304 code and rough idle. Higher rpms flatten out roughness but take off feels off. Any help??

spray carb/choke cleaner all around intake gasket mating surface on heads. (while motor is running) If rpms change you have a bad intake gasket.

I found a 98 jimmy for $1600 its got 175,000 miles tho any kind of on going problems with a 98 with this kind of mileage? cuz i got burned with a 98 blazer, had problems with everything from transfer case...

Its the same thing except it says GMC on the front. The most common issues with either of them is ABS problems, wheel bearings, ball joints, intake gaskets, plugged heater cores, injector issues, fuel pressure regulators, fuel pumps, catalytic converters, wiper motors, window motors, 4x4 issues, and the list goes on.

Where is the fuel pump on a 1997 gmc jimmy

The fuel pump is located on the top of the fuel tank in most models, and it necessitates removing the fuel tank completely for access. The average backyard mechanic can replace a fuel pump in a Jimmy in about an hour.

Is it possible to install the fuel pump upside down on a 98 gmc jimmy and would this cause a check engine light to come on

The fuel pump is designed to attach one way only. The wiring should be facing upward if you need to know, It is mounted on the sending float unit also in the tank

Electric fuel pump

under the hood on the top of the engine u will find the metal fuel supply rail, on that rail there is a metal valve it looks just like a tire valve, u check the fuel there with a test guage that screws on there at that port, the test guage is cheap and avail at any good parts store.
