To me it sounds as if your timing is off by a degree or two causing your misfire and sucking the oil up into the cylinders.

Spark plug misfiring what is the cause

Could be these things, most likely down to the least likely.
1) A bad spark plug wire. They can cause this even though you cannot see it happening.
One way to see it is if you look at the wires on a dark night with the headlights off (so the motor is running in pitch black darkness), sometimes it will show up then.
2) A bad spark plug connector, the part that holds the wire and pushes onto the plug.,
3) A bad spark plug, can misfire sometimes.
4) A crack or hole in the distributor cap, can be invisible unless you try # 1.
5) A bad rotor.
Be blessed.

Hello: I had a like condition on my 2001 Saturn L200 2.2 (over 200,000 miles) I replaced the module that is located in the upper cover on the valve cover located on the driver side. Before replacing check the connection at the module and check the connections at the PCM. PCM located on the passenger side below the cover at the bottom of the windshield.

Diagnosed as #1 cylinder misfiring went to look into replacing plugs and wires plugs are way down there and I found oil in the plug well I am guessing that oil in the plug well is very bad!!

The oil maybe your misfire

You change spark plugs, only as preventative maintanance, at 60,000 miles,if that is what you decide on

Wires can last for 15 years or more, there is no need to waste money, as most people do. They don't fail very often, then only one spot ,on one wire will burn out.

Replace the valve cover gaskets or whatever is the cause of the oil leak ,onto the plugs

We have a 2001 Saturn, S Series, and there's a misfire in the number one spark plug. We have taken it to 2 mechanics who tell us they cannot fix it. One says there's no manuel for it, so he can't look it...

take the #1 plug out,
take wires off the other plugs
put the wire back on #1 and ground it to the engine while someone cranks the engine. Does it spark?

In no spark, trade it with another plug and try again to see if the plug is bad or the wire is bad.
Replace whichever is bad.

If the plug sparks the first time, run a compression test on the engine. You can probably borrow a compression tester at autozone.
Just take all plugs out and screw tester into each pulg hole one at a time, crank the engine 3 or 4 times around, read the gage, write down the pressure, release the pressure in the gage and go to the next cylinder. Pressure should be at least 140 psi.

If compression is low in #1, suspect burned valve or blown head gasket at #1 cylinder.

Please let me know if you have questions.

I have a 2001 Saturn SL1. It has problems starting, you have to have the gas pedal to the floor and crank it a couple times, and it will start but smokes and gas milage is terrible. Check engine light came...

Hello: The number one injector could be stuck open. to check you will have to remove fuel rail with injectors attached, energize fuel pump with key off and see if #1 injector drips/sprays fuel. YOU COULD ALSO SWAP #1 AND #2 injector and see if the misfire goes to #2 cylinder.

Do you know how check the engine codes? Turn the key 3 times and the codes will be displayed where the odometer number is displayed.
If the code is 302 it is spark plug mis fire.
It could be a bad fuel injector.

I am getting poor gas milage on my 2001 saturn l200

These are the most common causes for bad mileage.
Tire pressure is a huge factor (Tire should be set at the factory recommendation or 1-2 psi above, but never below - Tire should also be a Low Rolling Resistance Tire)
Oil level (you said it's OK, so I assume it's not above the full mark)
Running extra accessories (A/C, etc)
Dirty Air Filter
bad Ignition timing
engine running hotter than normal
fuel injectors may be stuck partially open
bad fuel pressure regulator
faulty emission control device (this usually triggers a check engine light)
