Question about 1995 GMC Sonoma
Dirty Idle Air Control (IAC) valve. it's common for the IAC to seize with carbon build up and will need to be cleaned. You can clean it with throttle body cleaner, just follow the instructions on the can of throttle body cleaner and clean out all the passage ways throughout the throttle body and pay attention to the IAC passage way. You may have to use two cans to clean out all the carbon and note there will be lost of smoke from the tail pipe, but that's just the carbon and residual cleaner burning out and should clear with in 10 min if not less. Do Not Use Carburetor cleaner, the carb clean is too corrosive to the gaskets used on the throttle body system. Good luck and keep me posted.

Engine stalling and rough run
issue at low speeds
This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control
