'99 Nissan Maxima - 298K miles: Car won't start. Moved car this morning; went to restart but wouldn't. Checked battery; cleaned connects. Horn blows loud, radio turns on etc. Long weezy sound when turning key. Sounds like it wants to start, but won't kick over. Was told by a mechanic a year ago, if radiator blows, then timing chain possibly next to go. Radiator and all other parts are just fine. Possible solution(s)?

...okay, taped accelerator 6 times, then pushed while turning key to start....the car started! Was told the gas wasn't pumped through enough. Had a half tank of gas, go figure. Anywho, problem solved. Thx FixYa!

Sounds like your solinoid is bad on your startermotor. Replace with known good starter. If you want to check it out then pull the startermotor take it to your local auto parts store and they can verify it.

My 2000 nissan maxima has been having problems starting lately. now this morning it wouldnt start at all. when i try to turn it on it lets off a single click and nothing. the battery is good

Sounds like a bad battery/solenoid/earth connection, if it's the solenoid, sometimes putting the car in gear & rocking it willl unblock the solenoid & it will start, that's a temporary solution, but it sounds like a bad earth to me.
Check all the heavy cables under the bonnet, if any terminals can be easily moved by hand, tighten or replace them.

check the temperature sender for your fuel and emissions (not same as sender for gauge is most cases) if fuel injected, if carburated check choke. also ensure plugs and wires are in good shape

My 2004 maxima ran perfect yesterday. I went to start this morning and it turned over easily but it never started. What could it be?

if you put up your hood of car and have someone in the car to try to start it and another person outside listening to the engine while you try to start the car should have a clicking sound from the starter try to help turn over the engine but if you do not hear this then check your starter and might have to take it out and replaced. The starter is the first thing to check out for sure.

The past two mornings I went to start the car and it was dead as a door nail. Nothing was left on to drain the battery, and I replaced the battery one year ago. I went to jump start it yesterday and the...

it sounds to me like you have a short or something in your car is using power. You might want to try to pull the fuse for the alarm and leave it out over night, then try the car in the morning and see if it starts. If it does then the problem is in the alarm. My car did that a couple of times and my alarm was the trouble and to replace it. Hope that helps.

Sudden clutch failure

Sounds like you have a leak .... a bad master/ slave cylinder .... that car has a hydraulic clutch system you may see oil dripping, much cheaper than a new clutch ... pumping it may help shift until it empties out entirely ... check the reservoir ...
