Few days back, My remote locking system stopped working. Thinking that battery must have expired, i have replaced the battery (same brand & number as earlier) in my remote key chain. It blinked for some time but still its' not working. When i press my remote, it doesn't do anything. Please help ! Thank You !

I believe you will need to take it back to either the dealer or if installed elsewhere to that point and have it reprogrammed ..this is a common issue of many many remote users and it is done but i am not sure if a charge is incurred from this ...it is an anti theft deterrent as well the code was lost during the removal of the battery and re-installation
{{{ However }}} if you have a owners Manuel or if installed elsewhere check the owners guide and see if the code was not written down 1st before taking it to the dealer ...if this fails you will need to have it reprogrammed .......good luck and hopefully it was written down

    there should be a series of tiny buttons within it if i remember correctly can you find out the make of the remote ..is it stamped on the remote itself or do you have any brochure / guarantee that came separately from the vehicle?

    {{{{ please note is there a 1-800 # on the back of the remote itself as well as a serial # }}}

    there should be one listed please check

1Gather all remotes for the vehicle on hand. You only need one remote to get into program mode but all remotes must be programmed during the same session. The car will "forget" previous remotes everytime it is reprogrammed.

  • 2Sit in the car with all doors/trunk tightly closed.
  • 3Turn the key to the ON position, marked by “II” on the ignition bezel so the dash lights come on.
  • 4Listen for a quiet click, and then within 5 seconds press the “Lock” button on the remote for 1 second.
  • 5Turn the key to the OFF position, marked by “I” on the ignition bezel so the dash lights go off. If you hear a quiet click in the dashboard after turning switch to "I" then the entire process must be restarted.
  • 6Repeat three more times (for a total of 4 times).
  • 7Upon the 4th turning of the key to “ON”, press the lock button on one remote, the locks will make a cycling sound (clunk), locks will NOT lock or unlock at this point, they will just make a noise. The system is now in programming mode. Do not turn key off.
  • 8Within 5 seconds of entering programming mode and within 5 seconds of each other, press the lock button ON EACH remote you are programming, for a second or so and release. Each time a remote button is pushed, the locks should cycle. Up to 3 remotes can be programmed.
  • 9Turn ignition completely off and remove the key.
  • 10Step out of car and close door. The remotes should be programmed and work. If you have a trunk/hatch release, the button for this feature needs to be held for a few seconds before the trunk/hatch will “pop”. var wh_custom_channel = '4065666674+7733764704+1640266093+9911500640+6529619144+7416705818+8388126455+8941458308+0371618899+7122150828'; google_protectAndRun("render_ads.js::google_render_ad", google_handleError, google_render_ad);
    Try this, if it doesnt work you may have to replace the remote.

      There is a possibility the remote is broken. I gave you manufactures step by step procedure. Just because it didnt work doesnt mean I should get a low grade.

    Pulling fuse's an disconnecting battery's isn't the way to fix this . Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop. The BCM - body control module controls the power lock's . Hooking up a factory or professional scanner looking at data pid's -parameters is , codes etc... . What 20 amp fuse ? My service info. shows 40 amp fuse #19 , I see a 20 amp fuse # 14 - this powers the anti-theft module (SKREEM) sentry key remote entry module.

    I have a 1996 Mercury Sable 4 door. I cannot program my key less remote. I use to be able to use it until I had to get a new battery for it. I think that's when it stopped working.

    I'm not 100% on this one but 99.9% sounds like the body control module was reset. The car would have to be brought to the dealer to SYNCH the BCM & security system. Possibly just SYNCH just
    the remotes to the car. Good Luck, Frank M

    Wipers stopped working & central locking system stopped working on my 2003 range rover

    The alarm and the central locking are all part of the remote keying system. You will not fix it with changing fuses because it is likely the ECU needs to be be reset. Unfortunately, it will require a visit to an authorised workshop to do this

    Check to see if your central locking still works on all doors and that you can also operate the driver's door central lock motor.
    This can sometimes be an issue with the door lock motors themselves and not necessarily the key.

    Sounds like you need a remote, or the remote lost its program. You need to check at the dealership to be sure.

    sounds like the transmitter in the key head is defective or it lost programming, try these programing steps, if that doesn't do it u need another key made.

    Turn ignition from OFF to RUN 8 times within 10 seconds, with the 8th time ending in RUN. Door
    locks will cycle to confirm programming mode.
    2. Within 20 seconds press any button on first keyless remote. Door locks will cycle to confirm
    programming.

    3. Within 20 seconds, press any button on second keyless remote. Door locks will cycle again to
    confirm programming.

    4. Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.

    Same problem with an '03 Golf--remote entry, power windows, and interior lights stopped working. This was easily fixed by replacing fuse #14, (10 amp), located in the driver's side fuse block.
