It could be that your fuel system is blocked somewhere..try something like reddex which is added to your petrol tank and which eventually clean your system.Else if the car does not rev normally then you may need to clean the idle speed controller.Hope this helps.

My fuel gauge stopped working

Hi, probably your gas tank float doesn't work. According to me cause of the problem , some metal parts of gas tank float mechanism is stuck or the gas tank float is dislocated.

Occasional missing. A very occasional miss or stumble. Has even died on low speed cornering.

my Ford van was doing the same thing i put in spark plugs, wires, fuel filter do this first try some STP gas treatment and make sure you have a half of tank of gas in the tank also give these websites a try www.alldatadiy.com and www.autozone.com if all fails stop by your local library and get your hands on a Haynes auto repair manual for your van wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.

1993 acura integra with a 1.8 engine and auto tranny has problem with engine dying when coming to hard stop but does not die when coming to gradual stop. what causes that?

I had this on an Accord I bought as a project. It had been sitting for a while. I'm not suggesting that you have all of these problems, but check this out. I ended up having a split in the seam of my fuel tank, my strainer on my fuel pump was almost clogged up and my fuel pump was corroded. I don't know how the car ran at all. It would run fin when my tank was full, as soon as it got below half then it would stall at stop lights and during sharp turns.

My Mazda MPV randomly begins to "chug" and act like it will die at a stop. the check engine light comes on. Started about 6 months ago. Seems to happen more when it rains. If I tighten the gas cap it stops...

the gas cap and check engine light thing are related in terms of the EVAP system, or the evaporative emisions system. This is NOT where your surge, or "chug" is coming from. The surge could be coming from a Exhaust Gas Recurculation valve that is starting to bind or "hang up" a bit. DO you notice this happens more at lights, or when coming to a stop? if so it could be an idle air control vavle.

check all of the vaccum lines and the one behind the throttle body also try some STP gas treatment and if this helps replace your fuel filter also make sure you have at less a half tank of gas before you add the STP.

If you remove the sending unit in the gas tank, move it manually by hand as u saw done earlier, the gauge on the dash should also move. As long as the sending unit in the tank isn't 'stuck' at the half full level, the gauge should register empty to full as it moves. To be honest, I'm not sure if I would bother taking the sending unit out. 1st, u must be very careful not to blow yourself up when working on the gas tank (no sparks, etc), all u really need to do is fill up your car, see how many miles a tank of gas will go (carry a can of gas with u to see how many miles before u run out). If it's 350 miles, just set the trip gauge to zero every time u fill up, and get gas every 300 miles so u don't run out. If the sending unit moves freely, everything (wiring ) is connected properly, then it probably is the fuel gauge. good luck!

Your fuel level sending unit is not working properly. The fuel pump and sending unit is one thing in the tank. It isn't too bad of a job to replace, it takes about 2 hours. Buy a manual for you car and it'll have step by step instructions on how to do it.
