Hi, I have a 2000 navigator that all the sudden today will not keep running when started. Once started< i have to put my foot on the pedal to keep it running, if I take my feet off pedal, the engine immediately goes dead. Please advise.
You may want to try replacing the idle air control valve i have a 2000 ford f150 5.4 motor and that was what was wrong with my truck
The problem is most likely the MAS (Mass Airflow Sensor) located in the air intake tube. Mine does that from time to time and sometimes it sounds like a cruise ship horn when it vibrates.
I found if I hit it (the hose) a few times the problem goes away. Some suggest very carefully cleaning the valve with MAS cleaner. It is the one located in the top of the hose with the wires running out of it. Be careful it is delicate.
