Do you see black smoke coming out the back at all, once it warms up? To me, it sounds like your oxygen sensors are going bad. If you have a 1996 or newer, change the oxygen sensors between the engine and the catalytic converters. If it's a 95 or older, you'll only have one set. Change them out.

The O2 sensors determine what the fuel mixture for the engine will be. They are ignored when the engine is cold, as they have to be up around 900 degrees to work. Once it warms up, feedback from the O2 sensors is used to determine how much fuel is needed. When they fail, the car defaults to a rich-running condition, with excess fuel being dumped in. This is because the computer doesn't trust the sensors, so it adds extra fuel. Running rich fouls spark plugs over time, and causes hesitation and bogging and bad gas mileage, but it's better than running lean (too little fuel) - that blows engines. So the car is programmed to err on the side of caution and richen the mixture. Change the O2 sensors and the spark plugs, and you should be good to go.

I'd definitely change the O2 sensors out, but maybe first try cleaning the mass air sensor with air intake/throttle body cleaner. Have you checked the plugs? If they're very black, you're running rich. If they look white, you're overheating them from lean running. They should be a brownish, charcoal color if all is well. New plugs and cleaning the mass air sensor can help but since it happens once the car warms up, I'd bet on the O2 sensors since they're ignored until the car is warm.

Why 01 honda odyssey wont run when warm until cools down sometimes dies when driving it cools down n starts

the coolant temperature sensor is faulty
when cold the sensor tells the computer its cold adding more fuel into the engine, when warm the engine needs less fuel so the temperature sensor tells the computer its warmed up and to use less fuel. when this snesor goes bad it always reads as if the engine was cold so the computer adds more fuel than needed making the engine not start. Trust me on this ive had this problem happen to me before

Turn on the key and listen by the fuel tank for the fuel pump to hum. A common problem is low fuel pressure. It will build pressure when the key is turned, use that fuel, and then the pressure drops. Kind of like when you're using a squirt gun that's getting empty.

Car gets warm and starts hesitating on acceleration

Hi,
this could be something in the fuel pump. As the cold motor draws more fuel, it may just be just ok for the engine, but after it is warm, it draws less and may "suffocate" it that way. Same goes for air filter, take a peek if it is not ready for replacement. Has this happened suddenly, or has it occurrend during a long perion of time?
