I had the same problem with mine only the noise was coming from the rear driver side where the rear ac motor is. the culprit was the motor that opens the baffle regulating the hot and cold air. the teeth on the the motor are plastic and a couple wore off and while trying to open the baffle would make the clicking sound. its a little hairy getting that motor out do to close quarters but a friend helped me and its fixed now. the motor cost me about 75 bucks. good luck hope this helps

If you are in an area where you only need heat, or you need heat to get through the winter without fixing this problem, open the glove compartment until is is hanging towards the floor. Look inside towards the controls, hidden in this area, you will see an object trying to move as you change the temperature control knob. If you are limber, you can get a hand in and move this object to a level of heat that you want, while adjusting the knob to match. Once you get it to match, the motor will no longer try to adjust the temperature, and you are set. However, if you touch the temperature knob after all of this, you will have to repeat the process. An easy temporary solution. I live in the mountains at 9000 feet elevation. Pretty much all I need is heat, so this worked great for me.

Why wont my 1998 Ford Explorer Headlights shut off?

Does the vehicle have daytime running lamps ? Did you pull fuse from the inside the vehicle fuse panel ? I/P Fuse # 12 30 amp underhood fuse box is for the headlamp switch . Sounds like daytime running lamp module is the problem . But , without testing this is just a guess , by looking at a wiring diagram . Do you know what a automotive electrical wiring diagram is ?

1997 Chevrolet Headlight problem

did you try removing the DRL fuse to disable the daytime running lights, and double check your bulbs and fuses for the regular headlights? I'm not much of a mechanic but I'll take that fuse box before messing with anything else.
