Mini Coopers have hydraulic-controlled clutches, not cable-controlled, so if shifting is difficult, it could be a failing clutch cylinder, either the slave (at the transmission), or the master (behind the clutch pedal). If either is leaking, you would notice a low level in the brake fluid reservoir (on the firewall), as the brakes and clutch share this system, and a wet spot under the clutch pedal or drops of fluid under the car.
Lucky bugger ! right should not be so , check you are getting full clutch travel ,if so ,then the box has to come out .... also check the grade of oil relative to your temperate conditions.
Adjust clutch cable. ie/ shorten it where it attached to the peddle under the bonnet. Not too tight though, just a bit at a time untill at 50% the car will want move.
