You got me beat, if its cold why do you want to let the heat out(having hot flushes) if it is too hot turn it down or off , or even in the extreme wind a window down a bit

letting in warm air from around the engine is not a good move , any hole you cut would have to be repaied and that would make much more expence than fixing the blender door.you would be better off to insert a bit card board to deflect the air where the blender door is broken, that would be a better temporary repair , think about that.it would work

i cant give you an honest answer to that as i cannot picture that one .but it seems to be avery common problem with that model. i`m sure i would find a way to doit if i was stuck. in your position ,i would ring the state servie manager (not the dealer) and ask him the same question--- you will probably get the best resolution from him ,remember ,he has a vested interest in you ,to keep you happy so you will buy another of their cars ,try it any way but dont butcher it just to try and save a few hours or a few bucks goodluck

What would cause heat to blow out of one vent and cold out of the other?

A heater core is a component inside the HVAC box (located under the dash) that is heated by engine coolant. Vent temperature is increased by routing air through the heater core before it comes out of the vents. The temperature requested by the HVAC control module determines how much air passes through the heater core and how much air bypasses it. This event is called air "mixing" or "blending" which refers to the hot air and cold air ratio. Air routing through and/or bypassing the heater core is carried out by the use of a blend door and blend door actuator. Over time these two components can fail mechanically which often results in abnormal noises and improper positioning leading to undesired temperatures. Now, higher-end A/C systems with dual-zone climate control have multiple blend doors and actuators; this is how how the two different temperature "zones" are achieved. A failure with only one of the zone's blend door/actuator would result in desired temperature out of one zone's vents and abnormal temperature out of the other zone's vents. Heat comes thru driver's side vents, but blows cold air thru passenger side vents

You likely have a faulty blend door. It could be electrically, mechanically related, or even a broken door. It may be the blend door motor, or possibly the temp sensor.

2003 mazda 6 heater has stopped working

Air Temperature Control Blend Door Failure No Heat or no AC (dependes on where door sticks)

In all modern cars there is a tiny DC electric motor driven gear drive that moves a plastic door that blends heated and cooled air from the AC and the heater core, this is called (interestedly enough) the air temperature control blend door actuator. The motor that moves this door fails because the door starts sticking from warping, most common complaint is no heat but it can be no AC as well. To replace these parts (blend door and blend door actuator) you must remove the entire dash from the car. Always have this problem confirmed by a dealer or qualified repair shop as it is a very expensive repair.

Other causes of no heat in the cabin are engine thermostats that are stuck open (engine runs cold) or air bubbles in the cooling system.

It blows cold air out the driver side vents instead of warm air when the heat is turned up

Hello,
An all too common problem is the heat/air blend door in the climate control duct system. The blend door is either stuck, or you could have a bad actuator, ( the actuator is the device that moves the blend door based on your setting.)

I would likely have that checked first.

I hope this helps you.

I have a 2003 Envoy and when I put the heat on - the heat only blows from the 2 left vents. The 2 right vents blow cold air, as well as the right floor vent. This is a problem when it is cold outside,...

There is something called a blend door which allows a certain amount of hot and cold to mix to match your temperature setting. This blend door is either stuck in place on the passenger's side or it has an actuator that is faulty. An actuator is basically a switch that controls it kind of like your thermostat does on your hvac at home
