No usually a hard start in the morning is a sign of a fuel pump draining back after sitting, a sign of fuel pump going out usually..

Why is it starting intermittently?

fuel filter is clogged , it could also be the fuel pressure regulator but start with the filter , its the most likely culprit and you really cannot diagnose the regulator without changing the filter first then testing the regulator

I believe the speedometer is ran by the computer and is pulled off the vechicle speed sensor, if thee is a cable it would be on the side of the transmisson drivers side.

dear sir, should be on trans crossmember on drivers side look at fuel lines the sensor has fuel that goes thue it and one wire connector with four wires in it .....good luck
