Follow upper radiator hose to engine. Unclamp hose, with large drain pan under car. Hose is attached to water neck/inlet/outlet. Now, I would change both thermostats. No sealant is needed to remount your water neck/inlet/outlet.
The thermostat is located on the driver's side of the engine. It is difficult to see, but it is behind the alternator. The lower radiator hose goes to a metal tube, that is part of the thermostat housing. Below is a picture of thermostat and temp sensor location (alternator removed).
try replacing thermostat, or possibly temp. sensor (should be near thermostat- threaded into block- prob 1 wire). most likely failing thermostat! make sure you get the correct replacement for it! some have different temp. ranges. 'opening' temp. should be stamped on rim of thermostat. good luck!
it is under the hood, close to the battery, mounted to a bracket. If your car is an automatic transmission the bracket wil hold the ECM and TCM, if it is a 5 speed, the only one there will be the ECM.
