Sounds like the computer needs to be reset. Take it to a local mechanic and ask them to do it. It should be cheap and quick. Some really nice guys will even do it for free. Good luck.

I would have everything tested first. Thats usually free at most auto part stores. It does sound like your alternator is starting to fail or possibly your battery.

I have a 1996 Isuzu Rodeo. I just replaced the alternator. I have a voltage meter on the dash. When I start the Rodeo, it shows about 14 volts of power on the meter. When I am driving and accelerate,...

Also the voltage regulator can be going out but I seriously doubt that. When they do go out they register no charge at all at 99 percent of the time

I've replaced the battery and the alternator on my 2003 Isuzu Rodeo. But when traveling for several hours with headlights on the battery will go dead and the alternator won't charge till it cools off....

Sounds like there's still something wrong with the charging system. Did you verify alternator output?
(Volts/amps) Should charge at about 13.5 - 14.5 volts when engine at medium idle. About 65 amps w/o a/c, about 85 amps with a/c. If you've got the non a/c alt in a vehicle with a/c, amps falling short may cause intermittent charging/problems.

Does engine exhaust leak blow on alternator? Had this symptom before-it can ruin your alternator also.

Battery going dead-either the battery won't HOLD a charge or the alternator is not charging it. One or the other is your problem. Verify alternator output as described earlier, then need to do a LOAD test on the battery with a full charge.

Hope this helps.

97 rodeo wont charge alt cks out good battery is good no power comeing from red/bk wire from the computer so changed the computer & still no charge

Chase your return hot wire from your alternator to your battery and vice versa, there will be a fusible link, (larger wire) that will look slightly bent, then reattach wire with new to provide proper voltage flow, get back to me with any questions...I'M HERE TO HELP!!!

My 1998 isuzu will get jump started but wont hold the charge i thought after it runs for a couple of mins it should recharge it self wats wrong snl

If the battery is bad it will not hold a charge. Have your battery checked a the local parts house or your mechanic. Also have the charging and starting systems checked to insure they are working properly. Battery should have a reading of about 12.8 volts, alternator should be putting out between 13 and 14 volts. Starter should not draw to many amps.

Squealing losing power not chargeing batter changed alternator

If the belt is 3 yrs old or older, change it. If it has oil or anti-freeze or grease on it, change it. If new, add more tension to the belt.
