Problem with 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan

1998 Dodge Caravan Transmission wont shift Check engine light on

1 Solution

1998 Dodge Grand Caravan SE V6 3.3L 176,000 miles. Ok so was driving home from work today and all of a sudden the check engine light came on and then I lost all "forward motion". Tried to put the transmission into a lower gear (3 and L) and still nothing. I do have reverse. No problems leading up to this until NOW! Pulled over to the side of the road shut it off and let it cool down for approx. 5 mins. Started it back up put it into drive and was able to go about 5 more miles and bang the same thing. Had it towed home now and started it up when we got here and she seemed to shift just fine now! Too afraid to drive it away from our house in the risk this is gonna happen again! Any ideas? Thank you for any advice you may have!

Sound like the electronic module that controlls tranny is heating up or just going bad...have it tested by a good mechanic
