If I go from a 225 tire to a 245 tire, how much will my speedometer be off? Also, from a 245 to a 265? This

Years ago when I drove a taxi for a living we were always told that 2 tires sizes was 5 mph difference. They used to check our cars on a regular basis to make sure we weren't cheating. Hope this will help.

What is the biggest tire I can put on my 2016 Dodge Ram 1500?

Your Dodge Ram 1500 had options for 3 different rim sizes. They were 17", 20", and 22" rims from the factory. the largest wheel recommendations for handling and speedometer accuracy are as follows;
17" rims = 285 - 70R17
20" rims= 275 - 60R20
22" rims= 285 - 45R22
As a tire size rule, the first number is the millimeter distance from the road to the bottom edge of the rim such as the 285 then the second number say the 45 is the percentage the difference the width is to the height of 285mm. The letter R stands for radial and the last number denotes the size of the rim it fits on.

I own a 2000 2.4 lt dodge caravan and rim siza is 14 " .but if I switch tenm for 15" will b a problem or they will not fit at all ?thanl

You can change the rim/tire size to 15 inch as long as the wheel stud pattern is the same. Your speedometer is calibrated for the 14 inch wheel so the speed showing on the speedometer will not be correct. You will be going faster than the speedometer reads

Rpm running high

perform a quick lern it rests teh trans controller memory as for the speedo you might have to recalculate the pinion factor and tell it the new one lets say 235/45/17 is whats called for and you put 225/45/17
the change in size causes spedo to go out of range and shift points to change cause the conrtoller dosnt know the info personaly id get the right size tires for it

The police officer said I was going faster than what my speedometer was saying I was doing.

Did you have stock size tires before and change it to a larger or smaller size? The change in tire size can alter the speedometer readings. My speedodemeter is off by 8 miles an hour could that be fix just by changeing out my transmission because the transmission doesn't shift right it takes a min.

Assuming you replace it with the same transmission it should be fine. If you've changed your tires to a larger or smaller size it can also effect your speedometer. If this is the case it can usually be corrected by replacing the speedometer cable with one for that particular combination. If your transmission isn't shifting right you should check the fluid level. Also check for any transmission leaks because those can effect the shifting as well.

I own a 2003 2500 HD Silverado with roughly 110K mi. I noticed my gauge telling me that I need to "change engine oil" one week after having oil changed! A day later I compared my GPS speed to my...

Hi, I think 2 things have happened. 1st, when your oil was changed, the technician did not reset the oil life back to 100%. This can be done by turning the key on, without starting the engine, consistantly push the accelerator to the floor fully, 3 times. At the last time, the oil life should reset to 100%. The other issue sounds like a different size tire may have been installed, causing the speedometer to read incorrect. A dealer should be able to reprogram the computer to accept the correct size tire, therefore making the speedometer read correctly. This should not be an issue, unless the current tire size is not accepted in the computer, at this point, you ned to change to the correct size tire, or realize you may be off on the speedometer, and accomodate for your speed accordingly. Good luck...Coop

Tires

for the correct tire size, look inside the door panel on drivers side. there will be a decal with all the information you will need for the tire size and correct inflation for the tires.
