Can you use a 2000 or 2002 headlamp assembly on a 2001 cougar?

wow no year car told,why? 1998 to now, is it USA? car?
yes sold in S.America too, 2011 and up.
the outside casing lens?
the service manual covers this only
no problem told at all just how to. ( so I guess the whole thing out and in)
why skip saying the problem first.? to the blind.
is the front of the light casing all ugly and yellow?
2001-2008 (separate model, North America)
so I guess 2003, ( using ESP and Karnac mind meld)

PULL steps

Headlamp Replacement (TrailBlazer) Removal Procedure

1. Open and support the hood.
2. Remove the grille. Refer to ' Grille Replacement (Chevrolet).
3. Use a flat-bladed tool in order to release the clips that retain the grille to the headlamp panel.
4. Remove the grille from the vehicle.
5. Pull up on the retaining tabs?(1) in order to remove the headlamp assembly from the headlamp panel.
6. Disconnect the headlamp leveling electrical connector from the motor/actuator if equipped.
7. Disconnect the headlamp electrical connector?(2) from the headlamp assembly.
8. Remove the side marker socket?(4) from the headlamp assembly.
9. Remove the park/turn socket?(3) from the headlamp assembly.
10. Remove the headlamp assembly from the headlamp panel.

if confused buy the service manual
or get the car serviced in real shop.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the two cluster finish panel retaining screws.
3. Pull off the headlamp switch knob.

1. Remove the cluster finish panel. It snaps off. Disconnect electrical connector to dimmer sensor assembly.
2. Using the opening in the instrument panel, depress the shaft release button on switch and remove shaft.
3. Remove headlamp switch retaining nut and pull switch through opening to disconnect the wiring connector.
4. Installation is the reverse of removal.

1. NOTE: Make sure that the headlamp switch and the ignition switch are in the OFF position.
   Remove the headlamp assembly.
   1. Pull up and remove the two upper headlamp clips.
   1. Release the lower headlamp clip.
   1. Position the headlamp so the electrical connector can be accessed.
   1. Disconnect the headlamp electrical connector.

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Headlamp Assembly Removal
All vehicles

1. Remove the fender splash shield lower retaining screw.
   • Push the fender splash shield to one side.

1. Remove the headlamp assembly lower retaining bolt.

1. Remove the radiator grille.

Vehicles built up to 07/1999

1. Remove the headlamp assembly.
   • Disconnect the headlamp assembly electrical connector.

Vehicles built 07/1999 onwards

1. Remove the headlamp assembly.
   • Disconnect the headlamp assembly electrical connector.

Installation
Vehicles built up to 07/1999
NOTE: Procedure if there is a concern over the formation of condensation inside the plastic headlamp lens or if the plastic headlamp lens is split.
NOTE: It is normal for a small amount of condensation to form on the inside of the plastic headlamp lens, it will disappear when the headlamp is switched on. If the headlamp does NOT dry out after having been switched on for 15 minutes, check the build date of the headlamp. If the build date is between 01.08.98 and 30.09.98, install a new headlamp cover flap.
NOTE: If there is a concern, both headlamps must be removed. Defective headlamps must be renewed and reworking may be necessary. When the headlamp is installed, the number of mounting points must be reduced.

1. If the headlamp assembly is defective, install a new one.

1. NOTE: Sometimes the guide pin on the plastic headlamp lens is still present on a new headlamp assembly.
   Cut off the guide pin flush and de-burr as necessary.

1. Remove the headlamp levelling motor from the faulty headlamp assembly and install it on the new headlamp assembly. For additional information, refer to Headlamp Leveling Motor - Vehicles Built Up To: 10/2001 in this section.

1. NOTE: Sometimes there is no hole in the bracket of a new headlamp assembly.
   Do NOT install the retaining bolt any more.

All vehicles

1. NOTE: Fix the headlamp assembly in place using the locating pin.
   Install the headlamp assembly upper retaining bolts.
   • Connect the headlamp assembly electrical connector.

1. Install the radiator grille.

1. NOTE: Fix the headlamp assembly in place using the locating pin.
   Install the headlamp assembly lower retaining bolt.

1. Install the fender splash shield lower retaining screw.

1. Adjust the headlamps. For additional information, refer to Headlamp Adjustment - in this section. For additional information, refer to Headlamp Adjustment - Vehicles With: High Intensity Discharge Headlamps in this section.

Remove the headlamp assembly by pulling up on the tabs behind the headlamp assembly and pull outward.once you get this out you will be able to see how the bulb comes out.Hope this helps.Good luck.

1. Lift up on the two retaining clips which secure the
headlamp assembly.
2. Lift the headlamp assembly forward, out of the
mounting bracket.
3. Turn the bulb assembly retainer counterclockwise
one-sixth of a turn and pull out the bulb assembly.
4. Unclip the bulb assembly from the wiring harness.
5. After replacing the bulb, reverse Steps 1 through 4 to
reinstall the bulb assembly and headlamp housing.

You have to remove the headlamp assembly.Just remove the bolts holding the headlamp assembly to the fender and then just pull out.Now you can remove the bulb.Check and make sure it works before reinstalling it.Good luck.

Open the hood and directly behind the headlamp assembly there are 2 plastic sometime metal tabs that you need to pull up on.This releases the headlamp assembly.Then pull out on the headlamp assembly and replace the bulb.Check and make sure it works before you put it back together.Good luck.

CAUTION: Do not touch the glass of the bulb with your fingers.
Remove the headlamp bulb (low beam bulb shown).

two ways to fix, walmart will do it here for 40.00 while you shop, but if you are up too it I can tell you how. You can do it yourself with the help of some 1200 grit wet sanding paper and a buffing compound and buffer. It's not hard but if your don't have these thing already available to you walmart is the way to go.
