Hey, did you adjust the timing after installing the new distributor? The distributor is apart of the engine timing process. Also, this could possibly happen from using a faulty ECU (Electronic Control Unit). The ECU has a red LED (Light Emitting Diode) integrated for self-diagnosis. If the LED stays on without blinking, the ECU may be faulty and some time should be invested in finding out if it is working or not. The ECU is located under the passenger side foot well. You need to pull the carpet back, then you will find a metal protector cover (you can't miss it!). There is a small hole in the protective cover so that you can see the LED. Look to see if the LED is blinking and if so, count the number of blinks it displays and record the results. Come back on and I'll do my best to help. The ECU can also determine your issue very quickly.

2003 honda civic lx will start but no power trying to drive down driveway and antitheft light is on

that's a good one,
is engine RPM above or below, 2000 RPM in the A/T Drive selected
if cant get there, weak engine
if goes way highter, that is transmission slip.

the RPM is key
in the FSM see page on A/T for transmission stall test
it takes 1min, to setup, pass or fail (test is 15sec. max , never more. )

1990 Honda Civic,Car wont start after its been running for awhile, then it starts after it cools down

Hello,

You have a common problem; back in the early 90, the distribtors assemebly was causing alot of shut down problems for Hondas, the pickup assembly inside the distibutor would become hot and stop producing sparks/ engey to the sparks plugs. When cars came into the shop we would most of the time just replace the distributor assembly, but they can be kind of expensive thought, if you live near a salvage year it may be your best option for getting a good used one.

I hope this helps.

Most of the handas have a pick up inside the distributor behind the rotor button take off the black cover inside the distributor and two screws hold it on with two wires on it. If that go's bad your car will not start i would start there
