My 2007 Honda Accord's battery just died yesterday and it is only 1.5years old. I will be putting in a third battery today. Are the cranking amps of the old battery too low for cold weather starts? Could I get away with by a battery that has more cranking amps to get more life out of my battery?

I am thinking that a battery terminal was loose and the mechanic just tightened it up with out bothering to mention it. Ask as to what was actually done to put your mind at ease.
If you manage to get it started, check the alternator output...I'm betting it is bad. Should be making no less than 12.5 with accessories all on, 13.5 to 14 with just engine running. Bad alt can drain battery even when off depending what failed inside it. Towing with a chain is not really a good idea. the cross pin in those differentials are not very good and can fail.
either your alternator has gone or your fan belt is not there which helps the alternator to charge the battery get a volt meter on your alternator to see if it is kicking out what it should be
