1988 ford van 6 cyl, is it a c6 transmission?

I have a 1989 Ford Bronco 351 w with a C-6 Transmission. I just did a transmission service, replacing the gasket and filter. Now my transmission is leaking when the bronco sits for a few days.Help!!!

• In 1989, Ford went from the C6 transmission to the E4OD. The C6 is a vacuum shift and the E4OD is an electronic shift, 1-2-3-OD.

The only thing I can think of it doing that is it's out of alinement. Check with a straight edge theatre the starter bracket is straight and in line with the line ment with fly wheel with starter in place. Also the gap when the starter is in use has a gap of between 15 and 20 on feeler gauges.

Is this a 4 or 6 cyl? Anyway the best thing to do is go to Auto Zones web site" Become a member, they have just about every thing you will need, and its FREE just look up your vehicle, and you will have a the info needed I went to S-10 drive train, but I have a 1988 Astro van, 6 cyl. same motor. Go to car-parts.com look it up and compare to the sticker on the door post with vehicle data.

i would check EBay, craigs list or car-part.com

Forward drive in the C6 requires both the forward clutch AND the low/reverse, one-way clutch, or intermedaite band to engage. Since you have reverse but no forward, the forward clutch is most likely the problem, since it is needed only for forward speeds and does not affect reverse. Sounds like a trans rebuild.
