Fan will run for a certain period of time after shutting down motor of vehicle. This is normal. Your engine is still hot when you turn the key off. There are sensors that tell the computer when the engine is cool enough for the fans to shut off.
The fan should shut down after the radiator temperature is between 180-195 degrees. If yours is staying on way below this I would think you temp. sensor is stuck and keeping your fan on.
make sure you have radiator full of coolant
run the car to operating temperature
check the operation of the cooling fan
feel the upper radiator hose and the lower radiator hose. they both should be hot.
if one is cold then you may have a bad thermostat or restricted flow
if cooling fan does not come on when engine is hot then you have bad cooling fan switch, relay or motor.
good luck
You may need to replace your thermostat. This is normal for the fan to run after you turn your car off but if you say its running for 20 minutes or longer, it may mean your thermostat is stuck and causing the fan to run longer to cool off the radiator. Its a good thing for the fan to run. Heat is your enemy. I rather the fan run than no fan at all, if your car overheats, you could blow a gasket or warp your valves and its really pricey if that happens
the fan may be bad but you can find the hot side of the plug and run a hot to the battery and see if the fan comes on. if it doesent you know you have a bad fan if it does you can run a wire to the fuse panel so that it comes on when the car does and shuts off when you shut the car off
