I have a knocking sound in frond end while slowly driving and turning wheel to go left. Also some other noise that sounds like a thumping or similar to that of a tire going flat. It is most noticeable while driving between 5-15 mph then letting off gas and coasting. This is a 2000 dodge durango 4 wd.

sounds to me that you need to replace the hub assembly

Is the sound from one side/corner of the car, does the car pull to one side when you brake?,does the steering wheel shake while braking?...would narrow things down a bit,maybe a CV shaft is worn out?

Have the wheel bearings been checked?

but hopefully your front disc need turning, or replaced.
check wheel bearings by jacking up the front end "CAREFULLY" WITH
JACK STANDS & wiggle tires,if you get more than a 1/4'' slack on 1 or the other, than it's shot. Best to replace both sides. "GOOD LUCK'' &

check the u joints in the drive shaft or the rear end needs greased,or it could be going out.have you changed both the inner bearings as well on the front end?

I HAD THAT EXACT SAME PROBLEM TURNED OUT THAT IT WAS MY WHEEL BEARINGS. I HAD THE RGT FRT FIXED THEN THE LFT FRT TIRE. SEE IF THIS IS YOUR PROBLEM

Depending on the year of your gto it could be a buggered CV joint on one of your back wheels. All GTO/3000GT are four wheel drive but up to the mid to late 90's they had four wheel steering. The usual symptoms of a buggered CV joint are loud rattling and/or vibrating from the affected wheel at around 30 - 40 mph and often a loud clunk when cornering at low speed
