If it's still under warranty, take it to a dealer.
If not... you'll need to find out what linkage in the latch assembly is disconnected, rusted through, or broken. You'll need to do a lot of that by feel after removing the "dress" panel.
It's encouraging that your remote will still open it. If it wouldn't open at ALL, you'd be in for a much bigger adventure...
well its normal for door to luck when u start to drive in all Passat or vw. the hazard switch could have short in it or outside where the bulbs are located(inside the wiring of bulb socket). it could also be on ON position. change the hazard switch itself.
easy and cheap repair ,look on the end of the door lever with the door handle and their is a rubber cover ,remove this and undo the allen headed screw ,now hold the door handle and pull it out to open the door position the slide it backwards and it will come out ,look on the back of the door lock and their is a contraption that opens the door lock inside the door .this kit for this is cheap from the auto factor about 2 euros is all i pay for this kit ,fiddly job to fit but easy to do then refit the door handle ,you can reset the alarm by looking for the flat slot on the door lock inside and turn it with screwdriver as this will lock and unlock the lock de-activating the alarm .Right time to go to work now this is the last answer for now as have a citreon picasso to repair and a citreon timing belt to change ,real cars but first iam off for my morning coffee as this is spain after all land of manana ,siesta and fiesta
The cable has come off the track, because the plastic guides have broken, and you have to replace the track assembly in each door. You can tell that everything else is good, because the motor is turning. It is a common problem and replacing the track is quite expensive on that car. You can buy the track assembly on eBay though and save yourself half the cost of the parts, but the labor could run around $200 to $300 per door. Hope this helps and have a nice evening. Peter
Very difficult. You have to open the inside access door on the drivers side, remove the amp and wheel well cover, pinch the tabs and the bulb cluster will release. The taillight assembly is bolted from inside of the car, so it can't be done outside.
remove the inside door trim and remove the weatherproof plastic that covers the holes in the door behind the trim.
You should have access to the door handle nuts and rods to remove the handle.
re assemble in the reverse order and make sure the weatherproof plastic is put back on and sealed or your door may let water enter the car via the door
