If you mean Vtec (DOHC ((double overhead camshaft) engine), it has a timing chain, not a belt.
If you car is an SOHC (single overhead camshaft) it has a timing belt. It is recommended that it be changed at 110,000 miles or 36 months, whichever comes first.
Hope this helps.

Intervals between timing belt changes Honda Civic 1.4s 2008 thanks

The info I have seen is about 150,000 mi.
But it is really dependent on the wear on the belts is in certain different climates.
The belts can break at any time. 150,000 is just a rough estimate.

Some engines will be damaged if the belt is broken, like Hondas, others will not, like my old Pinto.
So it's a gamble, we all have to guess and hope it's accurate.

So I would say "ask your Honda dealer."

Hope this helps.

Does my Civic have a timing chain or a timing belt

It has a timing belt. Recommended to be replace every 105,000 miles, timing belt also run's your water pump good idea to also replace, your engine is also an INTERFERENCE ENGINE which will damage your cylinder head valve's if timing belt goes bad. Hope this was very helpful.

When to change timing belt on 2004 honda civic

Honda reccomends timing belt change at 100k. Most Honda dealers like you to change the belt at 90,000 miles (90k). some auto repair places will want to change the belt at 60k but that is not necessary (Note: if in a severe cold or hot climate like florida or canada you would change the belt before 90k or if the belt is over 7 years old.. Good luck:

Timing chain maintenance

It's actaully a timing belt, not a chain. But the mileage recommendation i believe is 60,000 or 90,000 miles.

2001 Honda Civic Timing Belt

It is not an eays job. I would have it done by a tecknician so you have a warranty. The honda dealer is your best bet because you will oem parts and the job will be done right . then you are good for another 90,000 miles. I hope this helps. Don't forget to rate my answer.

Maintanance light is on

The ticking sound is probably an out of adjustment valve. This can cause performance problems if it is severe enough. Go to www.georgebelton.com/6g.civic.tech/valve.clearance/index.php for step by step instructions w/ detailed photographs for this repair. The timing belt is one of those type of things that works 100% or not at all. At 126,000 miles I recommend having the belt(s) replaced. It is fairly inexpensive to have done and will extend the life of your vehicle 2 fold. If you belt fails it will probably destroy your motor so it is money well spent. Good Luck!!!

95 honda civic timing belt replacement process

If you have never changed a cambelt (timing belt) then it is not recommended that you attempt it. It is a job for a mechanic, as getting the cam timing wrong on reassembly is easy to do and can have disastrous consequences. It is easy enough once you know how, and if you are reasonably mechanically able, I'd suggest getting a repair manual for your vehicle that has a step by step procedure for timing belt replacement. Companies like Haynes produce very good repair manuals.
