I would make shure that the thermostat is in properly. the spring side always goes to the block side. Also you can check the thermo. by putting it in hot water on the stove and see if it opens fully and stayes open. to make this more precise you need to put a thermometer in the water and see if it opens at the right time. Also check the cooling fans.

Do you loose water after about 1hr driving if no then the temp sensor needs replacing But if you do loose water and the engine is getting hot then you have a problem.
You wasted your money on the w/pump as if that doesent work the water will boil from the top and stay cold at the bottom of the radiator.
Let me know how you get on Ron

Have the FAN CLUTCH checked. they are a common failure. Get a AC DELCO or the part from the dealer. Why was the radiator replaced? Heater work OK? A/C works OK?

I have 1996 dodge neon. temp gauge needle goes to hot. i have replaced the radiator cap, thermostate, fan relay switch, drained and refilled coolant, and a oil change, and temperture sensor. when i turn on...

Have you checked out the water pump? Most of the time, you can feel movement in the /head shaft area before it fails. Water pumps usually go slowly, pumping less and less water (making the engine run hotter). The also get noisy when they start to fail.

Just had thermostat changed .......temperture gauge goes all the way up then slowly comes back to normal range..no heat in car

As I have written many times if your car is otherwise running fine, do not replace the thermostat and hope that it somehow fixes your heater core. In your case it actually sounds like you put a bad thermostat in and it is not opening at the correct temperature, but much higher. It could be possible that you put it in upside down and therefore the temperature on the outlet side has to be high enough to open it. On a car that new your core should still be good. I would pay a dealer to take a look at it there could be some common problem with the flap that lets the cool air being stuck in the full open position.

Temperture gauge show's hot after a one minutes running

Most likely the heat sensor.
Ensure you replace the gauge sensor with the correct type to suit your gauge.
(dont confused it with the overtemp alarm switch sensor).
Check you've got the right sensor by shorting it out to frame/ground and observing the gauge movement.

Tempreture Gauge

I had the same problem or more so that my temp would run cold for miles and miles then go to normal and drop. It was my glow plugs. They needed to be changed. My boyfriend changed them himself in 10 minutes after I had been quoted 2 HOURS for labour!!
