Your ignition switch is going bad. The strange noise is the starter remaining engaged and locked to the flywheel. Your best bet is to have the starter tested at your local auto parts store, to deduce that it is not, in fact, your starter.
check for lose wire connection off wires on solinoid and battery solinoid is connected on stater motor normally on the side off engine at the back off engine
do you hear a hising noise if you dont your fuel pump is shot but if you do check your spark plugs and wires..also have some one give you cables see what happens
IF YOU HEAR RAPID CLICKING...
IT MIGHT BE A BATTERY OR ALTERNATOR PROBLEM.
OTHERWISE
It might be a faulty starter.
One of the symptoms of a bad starter is a single clicking noise when you turn the key or push the start button. ... Most likely, you'll need to get your starter repaired or replaced. If you can jumpstart your car, drive to your nearest repair shop to get the problem diagnosed.
there are many other possibilities,if the above options are not helping:
my guess is that your fuel pump is giving up on you. try hitting your gas tank on those days that wont start, best if you have somebody help you do it while the other try starting it
not knowing what kind of vehicle it is it is hard to tell. some gm cars and trucks have oil sending units that will not allow the vehicle to start unless it has oil pressure. they start going out and sometimes they start and sometimes they won"t.
IF WHEN YOU TURN YOUR KEY TO START YOUR DASH LIGHTS DIM AND HEAR A CLICKIN NOISE YOUR BATTERY IS LOW,IF NOT THOUGH AND THEY STAY BRIGHT AND NO CRANKING THE STARTER SOLENOID IS MALFUNCTIONING OR ITS ELECTRIC CONTACT IS CORRODED OR YOUR KEY SWITCH IS BAD.
hi, can you hear a clicking noise when you turn the key to start as the starter gets its power direct from the battery so also check these wires are connected and not came loose. If you can hear a clicking noise when you turn the key this means the starter motor needs replacing ok. Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
hi, when it dont turn over do you hear a clicking noise or is the engine turning over and just not starting. If its the first and when you turn the key the starter motor dont turn the engine over allowing it to start you will usually hear a clicking noise and this is the selanoid inside the starter motor failing to make a connection. If this is the case then all you need to do is get the starter motor replaced if you have any further comments or need further assistance then let me know ok
Just turn key as far as run, and you should hear it. If no luck, spray WD-40 in throttle body intake, and try starting. If it fires up, it's a fuel problem, if not, check for spark.
yes, it does it but not all the time.
