My dodge Dakota has a bad o2 sensor on it. It has 4 of these sensors, 2 on each side. How do I determine which one is bad?I did have the check engine code read on it so I do know it is an O2 sensor.

Hi:
I am pretty sure each O2 Sensor has it's own code.
If you have the code scanned again, it will tell you which one it is, bank 1 or bank 2 . before or after the Cat.

Hello, I have a 2005 dodge dakota 4.7 Laramie 4x4. Four years ago all four o2 sensors went bad, replaced with Bosch and then shortly thereafter I got the same codes and talked into pcm replacement so two...

just a suggestion. we had problems with a Dakota similar to yours. startup and warming up , the fuel managment is in Closed Loop Mode. (system ignors O2 sensors) then at Warm and good running temp., the engine Had problems. WE Junked the truck due to distance to overhaul Shop. (Canada/remote area) over looking the tech report. and the Old spark plugs. TIMING chain replacement wud allow the distributer to function in range to control firing advance. = good running at temp with O2 leen mixture.

Po152 04 dakota 3.7 o2sensor bank 2 sensor 1 location and cause can this cause to run rich or random missfire

BANK 1 Is On Same Side As Cylinder 1---Therefore Bank 2 Is The Other Side--Sensor 1 Is Top Sensor (close to engine) YES--Can Cause To Run Rich And Random Misfire. So Can A Injector. You Probably Should Have It Scanned (in data stream) To Check Function--If It Is Bad, It Will Show. DO NOT REPLACE WITH UNIVERSAL O2 SENSOR.

I replaced head gaskets on 2004 dodge dakota. when started it ran rough and lacked acceleration. Code P0300 and o2 sensors showed. replaced all 4 O2 sensors, but still rough idle and code P0300

That's Random or multiple missfire code. Have you checked for proper fuel pressure? Improper fuel pressure will trigger this code if it's too low, thus causing a lean mixture in multiple cylinders.

O2 sensor bad, when I have auto zone hook up and test they do show o2 sensor bad, but the codes are saying sensor 3 and 4 are bad. it doesn't say "bank 1 sensor 2". how do I know what...

You will have a total of 4 O2 sensors, two on the left (driver's side-Bank 1) and two on the right (passenger side - Bank 2). Sensor 1 is before cat. convertor and sensor 2 after cat. converter. Hope this helps.

Where is O2 sensor bank (sensor 3) located on the engine? Maube a picture? dave g

Bank 1 is the side that has Cylinder # 1 (drivers side on your engine) Sensor 1 is the one BEFORE the cat. Sensor #2 is AFTER the cat. Bank 2 is the side that has Cylinder #2 (passsenger side on your engine) and again sensor #1 is BEFORE and sensor #2 is AFTER. I have seen dodge use a 5th one on the V10 after the two exhaust pipes are joined together. that's the only place a #3 sensor could be that I know of. I don't know if they did this on the 5.2 V8.

What can happen by running a 1998 dodge dakota without an O2 sensor.

The 02 sensor determines the amount of petrol flowing into the engine. If it is removed the engine would be running rich in petrol and you would burn alot more than normal.

Oxygen Sensor

Bank 1 is the side that has # 1 cylinder in it, the sensor is located in the exhaust head pipe before the Cat Converter, one note of caution: an O2 code does not always indicate an O2 sensor problem, it depends if the code is a lean code or a rich code, lean may may be a sensor, rich is never a sensor, lean codes can be caused by all kinds of issues, a bad MAF, a vacuum leak from hoses or a leaking intake gasket, an injector problem and so on. Good luck hope it is the sensor.
