Try testing the thermostat
1. Remove the thermostat from the engine
2.place on stove in a pot of coolant
3. put a thermometer in to don't let the thermostat or the thermometer touch the bottom the thermostat should start to open up at 70-80
degrees Celsius if the thermostat fails to open at previously described temperature replace thermostat if thermostat opens early replace it.

Put some water in , find out if you have a leak , ie, leaking water pump or pipe , is it overheating , is the oil got white sludge under the cap , a sign water is getting past the head gaskett , check out these items first
