Where is the thermostat located on the 2001 chevy malibu

The thermostat is at the engine side of the upper radiator hose, but may be underneath the exhaust manifold from the front engine bank (radiator side). It's going to take a little finesse to access it, and you'll probably need to remove some things to get there.

If its a 3.1, its located below the throttle body, there is a metal tube around 8" long, the stat is at the end going into the engine. you have to remove the throttle body to access it, so pick up a throttle body gasket before starting this project.

Follow the top radiator hose to the engine. it should be under the cover where the hose attaches to the motor.

Where is thermostat located in a 2006 Chevy Malibu LT, 6cyl 3.5 L?

normally thermostats are located at the end of where the top radiator hose connects to the intake manifold, there should be at least 2 -3 bolts holding the thermostat housing on, radiator will have to be drained low enough in order to remove the hose, and housing. and thermostat, and gasket.

Where can I find an illustration of the location of my thermostat, on a 2001 Chevy Malibu V6?

Just Follow the upper radiator hose on the driver side of the vehicle towards the engine block. This is where the housing and thermostat is. The housing is affixed by two bolts hard to get to because the exhaust looks as if it is in the way, but dont be too nervous it will come off without taking the exhaust off.
