Question about 1994 Chevrolet S-10

1994 S10 2.5l manual..Engine starts and runs well..Drive about 100' put clutch in and engine stalls. Turn key and engine starts immediately. No bad signals when on scanner and no codes. All TBI parts changed.. Any suggestions?

Go to www.auto-repair-help.com . You may get help there. They have a video that shows you how to get a OB1 trouble code . OB2 only works on vehicles 1996 to present. The OB1 is used using the check engine light . It is quite easy. They can give you more info than I can here.

1996 Isuzu hombre 2.2 manual trans is stuck in gear have removed the stick and put it in neutral and still stuck and stalls when clutch is let out


so , it seems the engine does start in gear, with clutch depressed.
or cranks , brakes off, and car does not move. with clutch depressed, if yes, then the clutch is not 100% seized.
we now know the trans is in neutral (could be siezed check its Gear lub levels?)

I can not decode, stuck in gear. elaborate that.

this last statement makes me presume you depressed the clutch
then turn the key to start, it started
and when you let the clutch out, the engine stalls
does it do that rear wheels (2wd mode) ? lift driving wheels off the ground.... (these proves engine not weak)

no, then it is stuck in gear.

Engine stops when I place it in reverse or drive


You can in most cases repair this slow speed stall or unstable idle by cleaning the engine throttle valve and the idle speed control valve using a product called CRC Spray Throttle valve cleaner. Spray the cleaner into the air intake of the engine with the hose removed from the throttle body, the engine will try to stall so hold up the idle speed manually. Once you have used up about 1/2 can of the cleaner stall the engine out while spraying and turn the key off, disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 minutes and then reconnect and drive the car for a about 25 miles of varied driving modes. If this doesn't cure the problem you may need the fuel injectors professionally cleaned by the dealer service dept.

2 problems
starter is bad, (if it spins up fast and the crank shaft is stalled its a bad starter (battery charged 100% and good)
problem 2 is called low idle and will cause stalling
there are vast ways to stall any engine, (i will not list them)
are
1: egr stuck open , stalls at all stop signs.
2: isc stuck closed,
the former is harder to save the stall with right foot actions?
the later is childs play, (you are now an ISC)


that starter can in fact fail in many away.
Shorted (over current and causes solenoid to drop out)
open, starter, its dead as a door nail.
bad solenoid. causes free running of starter, it spins up real fast
and the engine crankshaft is no moving,
this is a bad solenoid or just a dirty shaft for pinion.
solenoid main contacter, bad, intermittent starts. or DEAD.
the contactor can sieze, and engine keeps cranking
this is a horrible ugly mode of fail, the engine can infact
destroy the starter (100HP kills 5ph starter by going over speed.)
theres is a clutch in the starter that prevents this, but it to can fail
or get dirty and jam.
if you were to say exactly what the starter did,. step by step
we can answer the why>?

i turn key, the starter spins ,but not engine
or same and its too slow

don't want to shift? fills a huge basket ,
1: grinds?
2: can't get in to some gears.? or all gears.? (engine running and not)?
3: clutch drags, clutch slips kills all gears, or just 5th.
drag kills them all and reverse 1st , its the canary gear. !! non synchro
4: noise.? or chatter, ****,larchig, or throwout hash ,?

the #1 failure for a gear not Selecting is a $5 fix.
the tip of the shifter shaft, plastic POS is broken, bar none this failure,#1 and sold only at SUZ, get em' while you can they are chapter 11 ANDGM/GEO is brain dead , ask them , and you get blank stares.

this can be proven, by selecting the gears by hand. running.
if failure, cant move those fork rods?
running? only
if you cant, the clutch is dragging. see why?
works stalled means the clutch drags.
can you shift to 1st stalled, start engine drive off can you get any gear? yes,if yes , constantly? with no grinding, the clutch is ok.

to do that manual shifter off test test the shifter must be removed.

Transmission slips in first gear


Assuming you have a manual trans, it could be that the clutch is worn. There is a test.
Place it in 3rd gear and with the engine idling, brakes on hard, let the clutch out slowly. The engine should stall immediately. Any slippage or slowness in stalling will indicate a worn clutch.
Less likely is that the clutch pedal travel has somehow become restricted at the top and will not release the clutch sufficiently.

Manual clutch not working effeciently


If the car has a few miles on it, the clutch may be worn. To test this, put the gearbox in 3rd and let the clutch out slowly while pressing the brake hard. The engine should stall immediately. If it runs on a bit before stalling, the clutch is worn.

At the other extreme, if the clutch is not releasing fully, which causes crunching of the gears, either the clutch hydraulic line needs bleeding, or the clutch cable needs adjusting up, whichever type it is.

2001 gmc jimmy 4.3l.idles low and will stall when put into gear unless engine is reved up a little.


Clean the Idle air control valve (IAC), it's located by the throttle body so the best thing to do is give the throttle body a good cleaning with throttle body cleaner. Do not use carb cleaner, it's to corrosive for the gaskets used on the throttle body's. Just follow the instruction on the spray can and after your done putting everything back together. Turn the ignition key's to the run position for 10 seconds and then off for 10 seconds to reset the IAC. Start the engine and let idle for 1 min and go for a test drive. If that does not work, turn the ignition to the run position and pull the ecm(BATT) fuse out for 30 seconds and then place it back in start te engine. The engine may stall but let it, don't touch anything. Just start it again and let idle for 1 min then go for a test drive. The ECM is just relearning the sensors like the first time the jimmy was driven off the assembly line. Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted be glad to get your jimmy running 100%.

94 Ford Taures dies in reverse


How is the car when put in drive? Does it almost stall or does it run fine? Almost sounds like a transmission problem. Reverse and drive put the same exact load on the engine when sitting still, so it seems unlikely it could be anything but a transmission problem. Maybe the transmission range switch is out of adjustment or bad.
