What kind of oil is needed in the rearend

If it did not have oil it would make the noise going straight. Check your brakes and the wheel bearings for play. Oil should be a GL5 70-90 wt gear oil.

2001 malibu humms and makes noise when turning left but not the turning right

This is typical of a wheel bearing that is going out. I would imagine that it is your right front, but it could be either side. It is a safety issue as it helps to hold your wheel to your car so get it to a mechanic quickly.

Which front bearing to replace? There is humming noise going straight or turning left.. but when I turn right the noise is gone.

Hi, quiet turning right indicates the the right bearing is bad. This is because the bearing is pulled tight against the axle nut when you turn right.

Steering creeks when turning left or right. front wheel noise.

My advise is when u get a humming noise when banking left or right. Its beter to change both left and right wheel bearing and ball joints. Cause if u think about it those parts are put on at the same time . So if u think about it they have the same where in Terre . left or right hope this helps you.
