BMW's are awesome cars, this option is activated by internal sensors trying to climatize the car for you, it has sensors that detect the temperature and automaticlly adjust it for you. you can however manually adjust the controls, read your owners manual on how to do the climate control adjustment, also peer into the defrost options. Great reliable car. Good luck

Well it is an ignition problem or key problem or even REK remote entry key is bad or needs a battery in it needs to be replaced or the key might have a chip that needs programming and you will need a licensed locksmith or dealer to reprogram it for you

Engine tepmrature goes up or down when i turn on the heater

That is pretty much normal, the heater blower fan acts like the radiator does and helps cool the water passing through it by extracting the heat from it. then once the car inside temp warms up it goes back to normal. Nothing to worry about.

I have a 1996 Honda Civic, it only overheats after driving for about 45 minutes, then it goes from normal to in the red immediately, If I turn the heater on it return to normal. There is no smoke coming...

Might have air in the system. With engine cool, take radiator cap off and start car. Let it come to operating temp and ensure fan kicks on/off as it should. Keep hands clear of rotating parts - fans, belts, motors. Replace cap and make sure there is water in the overflow reservoir.

I have an Audi a4 2.5 tdi cabriolet It starts eventually but takes ages What would cause this

open the door, get in,put the key in the ignition(do not turn on)put your belt on then turn the key to start. As the engine heater plugs are operated by the opening of the drivers door this "routine" is needed to start the car first time.If this doesnt work then the first thing to replace is the heater plugs, after checking the fuse is good.

99 breeze 2.4 blows mild heat cools quick turn off blower wait two min turn bower back on and heat for a min again cools right off

Sounds like the heater coil valve is not opening all the way if your car reaches the normal operating temperature or there is a blockage in the heater coil. If it is reaching normal operating temperature look on the engine firewall and locate the heater control valve. It will have the 3/4 inch heater hose attached to it and you will see a cable connected to operate the valve. Manually open the valve and see if this produced heat. Sometimes the cable gets stuck or bent and needs replacment.

No heat /new heater core / new control /new thermo/ ?

Did you re-fill coolant with heater turned on ?(not defrost) Leave rad or coolant return bottle cap off when engine cold, and turn heater on and add coolant as needed to keep level up. Let engine get to normal operating temperature, and wait for rad fan to kick in and out, indicating thermostat has opened, and coolant is circulating. Let that fan kick in 2 or 3 times and keep adding coolant as needed, and check heat periodically to see if starting to throw heat. When your getting good heat, put cap back on, top up return bottle, and you should be good. I suspect an airlock in heater core. I don't see the year anywhere so I'm guessing you have a rad cap, and if that is the case, leave it off as described, and watch for increased flow in rad when it gets up to normal operating temperature, which tells you thermostat is opening. Watch for that flow, 2 or 3 times, and you should be getting heat by then. If that isn't cure, get back to me with more info on year, engine etc. Keep me posted on your progress.

'99 VW EuroVan w/VR6.will not start, does not crank @ engine

good possibility is the ignition switch itself not making the start contact. that is not an easy switch to get to. best bet would be a dealer

Water temp is reading 180 while driving is that okay? is that normal

Hi.Yes,normal operating tenpeture for these vehicles is anythere between 180 an 205. At about 205 degree, the ECM turns on the coolant fans. The only time the coolant fans are on at all times is when the a/c is on.As far as the funny smell,it could be the heatercore starting to leak.If it smells like coolant,it will be the heater core.I suggest you take it to your local dealership. This repair will be covered under the factory warrenty.
