Our volvo stooped running in the middle of a intersection yesterday . Not sure why. It has gas, I feel like the gas isn't getting to the engine? I thought that maybe the cold weather had some thing to do with it. The battery is fine.

It sounds like the most likely problem you are having is that one or both of your fuel pumps is worn, and needs replacing. There is one in the tank, which supplies fuel, and one hanging underneath the vehicle (rear drivers side) in a braket near the differential, which pressurizes the fuel system. Have a shop diagnose these before replacement. Also, make sure that the fuel filter is replaced, and check the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose for looseness or damage.

If you have an older model you may be in luck. On the driver's side fender wall is a 25 amp fuse. This connects to the fuel pump. This connection is ofter corroded. Sometimes you just replace this fuse and your day gets brighter as your Volvo 240 hums back to life. Good luck. Hope that helps.

Try replacing the fuel pump sensor, its right under the glove compartment and it has this number on it: (3523608) it also has a manufacturer's date, and if its over ten years old, it should be replaced. try it, it worked on my volvo. Hope it works on yours!

My Volvo S70 has a gas tank lid that locks when closed. There is a release on the driver's door. Yesterday when I tried to use the release on the driver's door to open the gas tank lid the gas tank lid...

HI,
Is this a lever or button you pull or push? If it's a button than it must be electric and there is likely a fuse somewehre in the link for both trunk and gas lid that may be under the dash, by the engine, or somwhere else.

If it's a lever than it's likely a cable that runs back to them...but not sure how BOTH would be 'broken'. Does the lever feel 'different' as in loose or less tension than in the past?

My car shut down in the middle of an intersection. it wasn't running hot, the engine, starter, and alternator are all fine, but i don't think gas is getting to the engine. what could this be?

Fuel pump could have went out if you're not getting gas to the engine. Open the gas cap, put your ear to the hole and have someone to turn the car on "not starting" and listen for a buzzing or a sound that indicates the pump kicked on. You should be able to hear it kick on.

Cranks but does not start

this may sound like a dumb or insulting answer but it's not. are you sure you have enough gas in the tank for the fuel pump to pick it up? something else that will cause it is a plugged fuel filter. i had a fuel filter plug and stall my truck in the middle of a 4 lane intersection. i made a lot of friends that day.

1998 Volvo S70 stalls intermittently

Have tried getting quality gasoline at a reliable station? It sounds like water in your fuel system. Add a couple bottles of Iso-Heet fuel system dryer everytime you fill up the next few times, and that should cure it.
