There is a knocking sound in the back end of my 2007 Chevy Cobalt. When I am sitting idle I can hear it and when I am moving slowly after starting the engine. What is this?

If the noise is present when the car is not moving, It would seem it must be the fuel pump, which is located in the gas tank. There isn't anything else at the back of the car that could make a sound w/out the car moving.

Don't have a solution, but the same problem. It sounds like someone is knocking on the trunk of my 2007 impala. The first time i brushed it off and the second time I though it was the UPS guy knocking hard. Now, I know its my car, I was the only one driving on the street. I'm confused it doesn't happen often, but it doesn't happen when I'm with anyone. HELP

Is it Worth to invest for a new timing chain or new engine on my 2007 Chevrolet cobalt?

Hi, The loud knock you are hearing is typically refer to as "spinning a bearing" OK, sounds like that's what is supposed to happen I know, BUT, the bearing is called a shell hearing, it is the bearings that are used in the connecting rod to crank connection.. Now, the repair... it is most common to replace the engine in these cases. You can expect around $3000.00 to $ 3500.00, replace the engine.

2007 Chevy Cobalt will shift through all gears, but won't engage in any.

if you can smell burnt friction material, and if possible see it around trans, ( will look like black fibers everywhere) you fried your clutch plate.
