Misfire #8 cylinder

this has individual coils for each cylinder, correct? Why not check for spark out the number 8 coil. if there is no spark swap it with another coil. If there is still no spark out the coil than the coil is bad. If the coil starts to work in the swapped coil location and the swap coil will not work in the number 8 position than there is a problem the either the wiring or the PCM.

It is only firing on three coils it is like no power going to #3 coil what could be wrong? Wiring?

VALVE COVERS CAN LEAK INTO THE COIL WELLS AND SHORT OUT THE COIL. BUY A NEW COIL AND INSURE THAT THE PLUG IS GOOD AND NO OIL IS IN THE COIL WELL.

Cylinder misfire coil

These engines have 3 coils and are paired 1 and 4 2 and 5 3 and 6 with a spark noid run to see if the paired cylinder has no spark if so remove coil from module and test the power supply to coil and with a logic probe test the trigger side if blinking with no spark your coil is bad. not blinking replace module.

If there is spark out of one coil than its not the crank sensor.

does this have one coil assembly with 6 posts or are there three individual coils?

If it has three individual coils try swapping the coil that works with one that doesn't. If the one that wasn't working now works and the one that was working doesn't than you have a bad module. If the coil that was working still works and the coil that doesn't work still doesn't work than you have a bad coil.

If it has one coil with 6 posts I would replace the coil and the module. It is not uncommon for the coils to go bad and take out the module at the same time.

Changed coil in 1997 c1500. New coil wouldn't fire and now old coil won't fire. What could be the problem?

Check for 12v at red wire, if ok then replace ign pick up module ( usually green and yellow wires under rotor). or pick up coil. hope this helps !!

96 grand prix se engine problems

Your problem may be a faulty (shorted) ignition coil housing assembly (the white plastic cover housing the coils its bolted to the aluminum cover) change that along with the spark plug boots ( the boots are optional but I recommend it) that should get your Grand Prix running smooth. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help

No spark from the coil. replaced it. new one worked for a day then quit. took old and new coil in and had tested and both work? what would make the power before the coil work part time??

Coils fail when they get hot. They will check good when cold.
There should be a ballast resistor or resistor wire supplying power to the coil. You might want to go back to ign switch and run new wire with new resistor. It should supply about 12 volts to coil when cold then drop down to about 9 when it warms up.
