Question about 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

2 Answers

In the morning cold weather, as i start the engine, when i press the gas pedal, the engine is almost going to die. Try to press/release and couple minutes later it is fine for the rest of the day. Tuneup everything such as air filter, Mass Flow meter, sparks, wires, PCV valve cap and rotor.

This is a classic sign of clogged injectors. Run some cleaner. Use the bottle to about 1/4 tank instead of 20 gallons it says. If this hepls a little continue to use the fuel system cleaner for a couple tanks. You may need a repair shop to service them if there not clearing up.

One possibility is the coolant temperature sensor, but there are others. A proffessional can run tests and identify the correct part to replace.

Sometimes to start you have to give it a lot of

Hi
This sounds like a cold start system fault, which is a number of things.
  1. Cold start temperature sensor not operating correctly so the cold start system won't work when the engine is cold.
  2. The idle needs to be set to the correct RPM of the engine when warm, if it is idling ok when it is warm then this wont be the problem.
  3. Spark Plugs are worn and need replacing.
Most case's its the cold start system not operating correctly and if you have a good workshop to take it too they should pick this up quite quickly. Hope this helps, let me know how you get on.

Diesel rodeo dies and lack power when cold and in winter

Try changing the fuel filter and get the glow plugs checked or replaced .Diesel goes a little waxey in colder weather making it harder to go through the filter .
Hope this helps.

2002 odyssey injectors flooding

The owner's manual offers these tips on starting in cold weather. First, do not touch the gas pedal and crank the engine for no longer than 15 seconds. If no start, hold the gas pedal halfway down and crank for no longer than 15 seconds. If no start, hold gas pedal all the way down and crank for 15 seconds. If no start, hold gas pedal halfway down and crank for 15 seconds. During any one of the start attempts with the gas pedal part/all the way down, if the engine should start, slowly release the pedal so the engine will not race. Remember that fuel does not atomize as easily in cold weather and can be a problem.

New battery in 03 VW Passat, engine turns but will not start.

Possible flooding, cold weather can freez open injectors causing them to leak into the cylinders. Press the gass pedal all the way to the floor and crank the engine for no more than 60 seconds. The cylinders will clear themselves allowing proper mix of air/fuel and should start easy. If that does not solve please specify if the engine is 1.8l or 2.8l.

2002 Nissan Altima 2.5S wierd problem starting it up.

There have been several recalls on this vehicle for similar problems. I don't see in your posting where you took the vehicle to the dealer to check for recalls. You can call Nissan at 1-800-Nissan1 (in the U.S.) and have them check the VIN without taking it to the dealership. They will tell you if there are any outstanding recalls.
