Question about 1998 Chevrolet C3500

1 Answer

My landscape truck engine power cuts out randomly. Batteries are good, seems like gas gets interrupted. Sometikes it starts right back up and sometimes it takes 5 minutes to restart. I can drive 100 miles no problem and then have 5 stalls within 1 mile. Strange

ENGINE CODE PO68A ENGINE CUTS OUT

I googled, (you can too) see this:

Other people seem to have similar problems.
there may be a "hidden" recall
Sounds like it could be a dangerous situation. I'd get it fixed before someone gets hurt, or contributes to an accident. Cheap health insurance!

I have a 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser and it cuts off at speeds over 55mph seemingly at random. It often cuts off while making right turns at slow speeds, also at random. I have > 220k miles. Can you help...

This is a tough one, i would start by going to an auto parts store and for free they will scan the computer for any codes, these codes which are stored when the computer picks up a problem would help. then i would start the car and start to move wiring around and wiggling it, to tryto find a short, if the cars engine stalls while moving wires then you will be able to pin point by the wire you move. beside this if its a sensor or module thats going to be hard to find.if the car starts right up after it stalls then i would have to say its a relay or a bad wire some where in engine compartment. good day.

Randomly looses power, checked hoses, didn't appear to be any loose. Was told to put premiun gas in, and an engine cleaner that you put in the gas tank.....seems a little better.....but still 'cuts out'

check the turbo wastegate, if it overboosts the ecu reduces or cuts fuel not to do any damage in the engine. I read this http://www.discovery2.co.uk/wastegate.html and after a while i saw your problem and thought that this was the problem.

When driving down highway the truck engine light comes on and says "reduced engine speed". the truck does not go completely dead but does not take gas when gas peddle is pushed. When i cut engine...

I would strongly recommend having your truck scanned. It sounds like it is having some serious issues, and is trying to tell you something is wrong. Vehicles have a kind of limp mode when a bad enough code comes up it will still run but usually not very good, usually good enough so that someone can hook up a scan tool and diagnose the issue. This is what i suggest is done. Then if you come back with the code(s) we can go from there

When the engine acts up,have the fuel pump pressure checked to make sure the pressure is good,it sounds like the fuel pump needs to be replaced.

Hey I have a 1999 Chevy Silverado 1500. Last year in the spring, it randomly cut off. After a short time of looking around we realized the coil wire was exposed and shorting out on a line from the AC. Now...

Yeah I would pull that harness apart remove the tape and the plastic conduit around it and really give the wires a good inspection to rule them out then your going to want to make sureto pit the plastic conduit back on there raping it if you want. And remember to check up the wires a good foot or so in both directions. Then make sure the rubber on that pipe can withstand temperature because it soulds like it's getting a little warm.

U have 2 seperate problems, the gas gauge issue is caused by a defective sending unit in the gas tank, the cutting out will require u take the car in and have the electronic engine control system tested for trouble codes. Does this car have the 5.7 L engine?
