I'd bet the EGR valve is stuck... Go to your local Auto Parts store and see if they have a Scan Tool to check the error code. EGR code is P1404. You MIGHT be able to get by cleaning the carbon out of it. New EGR's are about $125. They are fairly easy to change (2 - 13mm bolts and unhook the connector). The guys at O'Reily's are usually helpful
