has the trans been serviced every 60,000 miles? this is a new filter and a fluid change, this may cure the problem.

It sounds like you have worn friction clutches on the inside of your transmission. Though it probably isn't damaged, it is most likely aging, and may need to be replaced in the future.

In the mean time, you can extend its life by keeping up on the maintenance intervals.

Put my trany back in after replacein a seal in the front filled it back up with trany fluid now my gears won't kick in well it's on my 93 Ford f150 way could be my problem

The last one of these problems i worked on was 2 quarts of fluid low. The owner, working on his car did not take the amount of fluid the converter would take in his calculations. We added the fluid and brought the level up on the stick and it fixed it. just 2 weeks ago !

Do you have a 4 wheel Drive? Suspect that it it is in 4WD and will not come out. OD issue just might be changing the transmission ratio, but I would check the 2wd - 4wd issue.

if not, then more than likely the OD is changing the Trani and the trani could be bad. Do not forget to make sure you have the rated fluid in the trani.

I can only get up to 25mph and the car will not drive or change gears, Happened all at once no warnings.

These cars are famous for trany problems, you may have a clooged converter, but a bad converter you would be able to go over 25mph for a while before it slowed down, you could drive for 5-10 mins, but if this happens all the time then the trany may need rebuilding,

Won't shift in to second gear or drive. Only in first and reverse. '93 ford taurus, v6 auto.

I am very sorry to say the trany is bad. Two ways to fix. Replace the trany yourself with a new one or have your local tany repair shop rebuild it. Dollar amount is about the same. The only way to remove the tany is by pulling the engine and trany out of the top as one unit. If you work on it full time, expect and expert to do it in four days. Day one, disconnect everything. Day two, pull engine and trany out, seperate the two and replace with new one, put completed unit back in. Day three hook everything back up. Day four, fix what ever you forgot to do!! Heavy tools set needed along with jacks, jack stands, and engine lift. Hope this helps.
