I have a 1996 saturn SL2 dohc can you tell me why sometimes it will start and then sometimes i will try to start it and it acts like it is trying to start but never turns all the way over

Bad ground will do that. Check battery terminal first, then the second place to check is grounds on the side of the motor where transmission bolts are. Then the starter itself can be corroded right where it lays against the motor, where it is bolted on. This can happen due to too much oil running down on it as well. Last of all the starter can be bad. It is best to have it diagnosised first before guessing at any repairs though.

Intermitantly, when i turn the key on my 1999 saturn sl2, theres no engine crank, plenty of battery power, justno cranking, i let it cool of for some time and it fires right up, starter going out?

Could be a starter failing, but more likely a faulty negative battery cable or starter cable connection. Look for corrosion or looseness at the cables. On GM starters, corrosion on solenoid terminals on the starter can often cause these symptoms. On most vehicles over 10 yrs. old, replacing the neg. batt. cable will save many headaches.

1996 Saturn SL2 - No response from starter - over past 3 days it has been intermitant - all lights from ignition switch but no response from starter - In 100 attempts, it has started 3 times - Battery is...

It would be hard to guess but a simple diagnostic would be to use a 12v test light and see if the starter solenoid recieves a 12 v signal while turning the key. If it lights, the starter should turn over. This also gives you the oportunity to check and verify all electrical connections at the starter including the large orange fusible link wire at the large battery terminal.

1993 saturn sc1 new starter now no power at all

Are all wires connected? There should be a fusable link that goes from the alternator to the larger terminal on the starter then a red cable that goes from the larger terminal starter to the battery.

A smaller gauge purple wire connects to the smaller terminal on the starter. This is for ignition.
