Question about 2000 Kia Amanti

Open Question

I have a Kia Carens 1.8 clutch problem!

I have a Kia Carens 1.8 petrol year 2000 (x reg) UK spec.
I purchased the car 2 days ago and was told the thrust bearing was noisey, well it is when you dip the clutch pedal.
Yet then the clutch started slipping, then today it stopped slipping (tried at about 5 to 10 mph in all gears to make it slip up a steep hill via pedal to the metal).
Also sometimes (sometime often and together, sometimes not for a while), the clutch pedal when released does not fully release, there is about (up top) 1/4 to 1/2 inch that it does not release, then if you push the brake pedal, that 1/4 to 1/2 inch pedal pops up.

all transmisions must be removed to remove thrust bearing there is no way around it its a ring bearing around a shaft that goes thru the cluch into the flywheel!

SOURCE: Car only starts in gear

The neutral safety switch is out of line.
It is located at the base of the gearshift lever.
It is "binding" somewhere or the red wire is corroded and touching ground.

I have an 03 kia carens and the gearbox oil smells burnt plus there was to much oil in it does this mean my gearbox is broke

you need to do a full transmission oil change
while the pan is off have the bands and clutch packs adjusted
also have the fault codes read as there could be a pressure problem or a torque converter clutch servo/ solenoid problem
too much oil will cause the oil to overheat and burn

What type of oil for the kia 4 by 4 sportage 2000

Hi there, My book says for your 2000 Sportage the engine oil should be 10w-30 mineral oil.
For this year Sportage its the same oil for petrol or diesel.
I hope this is enough info for you

Usually when a clutch goes, the parts people won't warranty the clutch, unless you have the flywheel resurfaced, and buy a new pressure plate. I can't imagine how a flywheel could be damaged to the point of replacement, without the clutch itself being severely damaged. No. This is certainly not normal practice. Ask them what damaged the flywheel?
