Why do you think you need a heater? Has the fan stopped blowing or are you referring to the need to replace the leaking gasket in the heater core?
If you take it to a mechanic for the heater core gasket, you can expect $1200-$1400 just to replace a $0.80 part. It is very labor intensive but can be done yourself if you have about 6 hours.

I have a 2001 diamante and it will not shift in to any gears.

Yes...

You are absolutely correct.

The Mitsubishi Diamante has the advanced electronic transmission, which MUST only use "special" Mitsubishi transmission fluid.

Contrary to belief, having excess fluid in your transmission can cause havoc, just as not enough fluid can.

So, it's imperative that the fluid level be checked while engine is warm, in park at idel speed.

As the condition of the fluid is critical, you should change the fluid every 30,000 miles/50,000kms, to avoid costly repairs.

Cheers,

The best way to replace a heater core on a 2001 Diamante car.

I think the steps to replace the 'heater core' are a few too many to list here- sry and it is a pain to do in most vehicles- im not familiar on the exact steps on the particular veh. Best thing to do is get a repair manual and follow its guidance on removal and reinstallation of the heater core. Good Luck
