Could be ur engine on "emergency" setting, and thats something you wanna take care of right way so take ur car for a scan and find out why the MIL light is on
hope this helps

i wouldnt say that, to me it sounds more like a sensor, because the MIL light is on, that light is there to let you know that theres a problem with either a sensor or actuator on your engine
so take it to a scanner and solve ur problem with time.

It could be a number of things from your description. Places to start.
1. Change your transmission fluid and filter. (Not just the quick switch). This is because you need to have good fluid to downshift properly.
2. It could be torque converter related if you have slippage of rpms at higher rpms.
3. There is an electronic solenoid that may be the source (check for leaks) and it is located front right half way up the engine when looking at the car.
Good luck!

O/D Off light goes off and on

the overdrive is the 4th gear. considering that it may not be an issue with your computer switching gears to fourth but an issue with the transmission itself. this light could be a signal instead of and engine warning light where the engine is fine but the transmission isnt.

2003 protege runs with high idel in each gear. I know this is done on perpose to make it feel sporty. Running at 3.5 rpms in 5th at 65 to 70 mph burns gas. Can I lower the rpms to save gas? Btw I don't...

No. You are set by the gear ratio in the transmission and the final drive. The only way to change this would be to change the final drive ratio in the transmission, and there likely are no aftermarket solutions available to you.

I have a 2003 ford focus with a 5sp manual transmission, i just got the wheel bearing fixed and now my car idles at regular 1800 rpms, but i lost all power essentially my shift light is always on even in...

If your car lacks power it needs the extra RPMs to push the weight of the vehicle. Most cars idle smoothly at about 700 RPMs. Check the engine compression on all cylinders. If they are all even (within 10lbs) and about 100 psi or more then you may just need a tune up or some work done on the fuel system. Hopefully the engine isn't running hot or has oil control problems which will require some major repairs.

Can an engine miss fire in two cylinders and not be noticed? In the truck on the highway, I use excessive gas and getting about 7-9 mpg. Also, I go into a low gear of about 1900 rpms with no power or high...

It sounds like you have two different problems. First it sounds like you have a transmission problem. It sounds like the band for 2nd gear is bad. As for the fuel milage problem, Is the check engine light on? If it was only running on 6 cylinders you should feel it.

2004 chrysler sebring idle speed is too slow. HOw

why do you want your rpms higher while idling? you don't want them high because your gas bill will reflect that. slow shouldn't matter but if it's dying while on idle it could either be your mass air flow sensor or your fuel filter being clogged

I ahve this same problem. My car also bogs down when going over 2500 RPMs at certain times. My car was diagnosed with needing a new ECM. I have not had this replaced as of yet.
