    Might want to check the power window motor. If you need directions on removing the door panel, Muth Co ( signal mirror manufacture ) has PDF download for the install directions that show how to get the door panel off ( if you are unsure of this ). 2001 SuperCrew directions :http://www.kwmuth.com/techsupport/pdfs/2... Once you have the door panel off, check the motor itself, by unplugging the pig tail to the motor, and applying + and ground to the 2 pin connector. One direction will raise the window, the other will lower the motor. This is what the motor looks like out of the door, and that is the pig tail you are testing at ( this is what plugs into the factory harness ) If applying 12v directly to the motor does not raise it, you need to replace the motor. Dealer and Napa have the motor. If you have to replace the motor, you need to use a 1" hole saw to drill the door panel to get to the motor mounts You will see dimples on the door panel, this is the location to drill : Remove the 3 bolts ( they are more like sheet metal screws with hex heads on them), and reach up in the door opening to grasp the motor and turn anti-clock wise to remove the gear. You can try hitting the motor against your tire, and test again. Dad's '01 Screw did the same thing, but the hitting the motor only worked for ~ 60 days. If the testing above ( power to the motor direct ) does work, then the problem is with one of the 2 switches. Depending on use, this is usually the main driver's switch. It is ~ 65.00 to replace.

Check the wires on the driver's door between the door and the post. A break in a wire will affect the passenger side.

The passenger side window on my 2001 F150 will roll down but not up?


Might want to pull the door panel off and test direct to the power window motor, to know which way to go with the diagnoses.

Good directions for removing the door panel are available at Muth ( signal mirror mfgr ). www.kwmuth.com Obviously only follow the directions to the point of getting the door panel off, no need to remove the mirrors. Just enter your truck info, and on the products page are the directions in PDF format.

The power window has a pig tail on it, that goes to the switch ( this is what it looks like remvoed ).

You can apply DC power to the pigtail towards the motor, 1 direction is up reverse polarity and the window should go down.

If the motor works this way, next is to meter the lead from the switch ( the other side of the pigtail ). One direction will have + 12 DC V, then the switch the other should show -12 DC V. If not, it would be time to test both switches.

Post back what you find with the motor test as a comment, and we can go from there.

I have had this problem occur on two differnt cars once it was the driver side window switch, the other time it was a short in the power wire to the driver side switch. The power goes to the driver side first then to the passenger side so the problem is on the drivers side.

Whn the window does not work try this, Turn on you dome light. Press and hold the window button. Does the dome light dim? If it does it is likely a physical resistance in the window track. If it doesnt then there is a break in the window circuit. Have you tested the switch. The switch could cause an intermitten concern. The wiring of a 1999 f150 the passenger side switch could cause a concern even using the drivers switch. Check both switches using the dome light trick. If you have a test light place the clamp on a ground and the tip to the TN/LB wire and the WH/YE on the driver side switch operating it in boh up and down positions. Each wire should go power in one postion but not the other. The passenger side wire colors are YE/RD and RD/YE. Good luck

Power windows


You said the window went down, if it won't go back up, then either the motor in the door is defective or the window switch is, u did the switch so all that is left is the motor

Window motor rolls down but not up.


I think that the switch itself is losing contact. By switch I mean the button you are depressing to roll up the window.
